They seem surpisingly slow & low, making batting rather difficult particularly for the 'chasers'. But the outfield is quite OK and well hit balls do seem to be reaching the fence. I for one believe that subcontinental teams, particulalry India & Sri Lanka, will do well under these conditions which are similar to some grounds back home.

I saw a lot of cricket on the WI pitches during India's last visit to WI. The pitches are totally different from a couple of years ago. Though, the bounce and initial movements come in handy during the initial overs, the medium pacers and spinners should do the trick wiith the old ball. Certainly, this dents the chances of Australians or South Africans who lack a quality spinner.

Being an Indian supporter, the pitches are ideal for Kumble

I enjoy low scoring matches. They get more exciting than the high scoring matches. I loved the champions trophy which had difficult pitches as well. And yes, I want to see Kumble run through some batting line ups...

The pitches are allright but what of the boundaries... some of those ropes are just 66m away those are seriously small grounds man!!!!

Absolutely - and with piddly little boundaries I'd have expected much higher scores by some teams (Sri Lanka excluded, but then they always seem to score well). It seems a little odd that the ICCs flagship tournament is being played on grounds that, in some cases, don't actually meet ICC regulations!

Did you expect anything less from the ICC .

Re: the pitches, thats why i fancy Sri Lanka, they know how to bat in ODI's and they bowling attack is well suited to the pitches being played on.

I agree that Kumble could be a handful on these pitches, but most Indian commentators expect Harbajan to play instead.

:O How come Harbhajan?? His performance off late has been ordinary. I even expected Powar to take his place, not to be . I also used to hate these low score matches but now I love them. These matches almost always are much closer and tighter than the boundary matches.

The pitches are making it more interesting than 330 plays 300.I always prefer a tense low/medium scoring affair than a run feast where the bowlers stand absolutely no chance. With pitches like this the best all round sides will progress not just ones with an amazing batting line up.
