Eighth wicket down, I was just about to say it was clever of Ireland to give Utseya a single to keep him on strike, and it's worked, Utseya smacking Kevin O'Brien straight to cover. If it lasts long enough, I wonder who'll get the last over; Langford-Smith or Rankin (who was bowling quick earlier)?

No question - nothing will live up to this match, or that last over.

What a risk by Trent Johnston to put a spinner on for the last over, and it just paid off. Quick thinking by Niall O'Brien to toss the ball to the bowler for the run out, shame Rankin wasn't paying attention for the catch a couple of balls earlier which would have won the game outright.

Phew!

What a game! Both teams had their chances, but I really thought that Ireland had stolen it when Zim were reduced to 9 wickets down with 9 runs to get off the last over. Matsikinyeri deserves credit for holding his nerve....well, almost. Isn't this only the second TIE in a World Cup match? I think so.

Cric info stated that it was third - but they did not state the other two games - all they stated was that all games involved an African team.

The only other WC tie that I know of was that famous Oz vs SA in 1999 with Lance Kluesener and Allan Donald involved in that heartbreaking run out; unless they consider the 2003 SA vs SL game as a tie, but that one was under the dreaded Duckworth & Lewis system and so the scores were not really equal.

Curses! I went off to bed when Zimbabwe needed about 50 runs off a lot of balls and it looked as though it was all over. What a shame to have missed the end of a match which really was good to watch. Excellent start for Ireland - but really an unsatisfactory result for both teams. Still, at least not all the first round matches are hopeless mismatches.
