New quotas to be enforced...

Breaking news is that new quotas are to be enforced within cricket teams competing within the World Cup...

South Africa need at least 3 'black' players on the field at any given time.

India will need at least 3 Islamic players on the field at any given time.

New Zealand will need at least 3 Mauri players on the field at any given time.

And...

England will need at least 3 cricket players on the field at any given time.

(Sorry...we do need some humour some of the time)

Miss quoted I'm afraid England must field at least 3 SOBER players and at least 3 English players (not necessarily the same 3 players)

West Indies must field at least 3 players who are unsure of who their fathers are, and at least three who are currently unsure of who they themselves are.

Sri Lanka must field three players with some form of abnormal elbow problem

Bangladesh must field at least three players over 5'2", 1 over 5'6"

Any Scottish players found playing the bagpipes will be prosecuted for animal cruelty.

They were about to enforce a law that Australians must field at least 3 Aboriginal players but stopped when they realised that there were 11 already in place .

Sometimes I wonder if Darryl Tuffeys in the team these days to fill a quota - he was brough back without provign himself and then bombed badly in his first odi at eden park - scene of his infamous 14 ball over.

I think the black caps may have only had about 3 or 4 Maori players in theri history.

Its a guess - as I'm not entirely clear on the ethnicity of some of the players (Maori or Pacific Islander) but weren't the following all Maoris?

Daryl Tuffey
Heath Davis
Murphy Su'a (surely Pacific Islander?)
Tama Canning
Andre Adams???

Andre Adams has West Indian roots, and Su'a I think can be ruled out. That leaves three !

I wonder what happened to Heath Davis, his career really crashed and burned.

Adams has West Indian roots? I didn't think he was Maori - I was clutching at straws by then.

Heath Davis was an enigma really - fantastically quick, but very erratic. I think he did his back in and was out for a few years and was never quite the same. Sounds a familiar story (Bond, Butler etc.)

I think there's a few more Maori in state cricket - Ross Taylor, David Haupapa and doesn't Jesse Ryder have a bit of Maori in him?

Ross Taylor is Samoan I believe. Jessie Ryder is a surprise though.

I thought Ian Bulter was simply out of favour in John Bracewell's books? Was it a back injury that ruled him out?

We're forgetting about Adam Parore

Taylor and Sua are samoan. I guess there could be a lot of players with a bit of Maori in them. I heard last year there were more wallabies of maori extraction than all blacks but that a whole new can of worms.
