29th Match, Super Eights: West Indies v New Zealand at North Sound Well once again the West Indies have gotten off to a slow start to there innings, while Chanderpaul falls early again (this time to Bond for 4). I was concerned about the West Indies scoring rate in the group Matchs - I thought it may be that they are just pacing them selves, but they have yet turned up a gear and in fact look like they have dropped a gear. Crunch game for both teams, more so for the West Indies, while New Zealand will go along way to making the semi if they manage a win here - already securing 2 points over England.

Could be an ominious sign from Gayle in the 14th over from Franklin - smashing 3 4's, however Sarwan then only gets a single in the next over by Oram. Sarwan seems to be the run rate problem at the momment - as Gayle hits another 4 of Franklin. Time for Flemming to replace Franklin, 29 runs of 3 overs Last edited by Aussie-Yank : 29-03-2007 at 02:40 PM.

Oram strikes in the 17th over and removes Sarwan - caught behind for 19. 2 for 66 at a RR of 4.04 - West Indies are delicately placed here at the moment. 16.2Oram to Sarwan, OUT, Stunner from McCullum. Full in length, outside off stump and Sarwan drives but the bat comes outside the line as the ball moves in a touch, clips the inside-edge and it flies to the left of McCullum who dives full stretch to take a beauty. I would have said, another YouTube moment but ICC is watching. Shhhhh... RR Sarwan c McCullum b Oram 19 (27b 2x4 0x6) SR: 70.37

Well, the Windies were humiliated once again. No one can find a satisfactory explanation for choosing Simmons - a pure batsman - in place of the strike bowler Taylor. But from New Zealand's point of view, a great performance despite 2 or 3 key players being unavailble. The way in which Styris & McMillan went about reaching the target was very impressive.
