Well this is all too familiar, another 4 years before we get the chance to beat oz in a world cup.(the last time was 92 I think. That was also the last time we didn't completely embarrass ourselves in the tournament.)

Congrats to Australia, a shame the opposition handed you was so abject!!

Another humiliation against the old enemy during a very long winter full of them.

I'm not sure about any pitch, but on most yes 250 should be there or there abouts, athough with the modern game 275 is becoming par now. But as this Aussie batting line up is exceptionally strong i felt we needed and should have got 300+ and to be honest i cant see this Aussie line up choking like the Saffers do. The problem with our bowling is that I'm not sure its wise to play both Anderson and Mahmood, they can both go for 6 an over and at the moment they havnt been threatning with the new ball (or old ball for that matter).

This really has been a canter for the Aussies.

I don't think Vaughan thinks much of Bopara's bowling, in the same vein as Flintoff's past handling of Panesar at the start of his career. Heaven knows why, what the game needs right now is something different. Give the batsmen something to think about, rather than going through the motions!

The annoying thing then was we were by far and away the best team in the tournament. Yet all be here about '92 is how the Saffers were robbed in the semi v us (no, if the original target stood we would still have won comfortably!). It was us who was robbed in the final by a couple of poor umpiring decisions. Hmmph!

Sorry, I'm just in a bad mood because of our inability to play ODI cricket!!

[Rant over !]

I dont know why Vaughan doesnt rate Bopara. He bowls wicket to wicket and seems to me like a decent ODI bowler.

Ooh hang on Pontings out now, a hat trick and it could be interesting!

Happy Feet

Kevin Peitersen take a bow, what an inspiration with that tap dancing boundary line attempt at catching Symonds. Well he did catch him unfortunately could'nt stop his feet did the right thing in the end chucking the ball away result Symonds 2 runs then a grumpy Symonds teed off for 6 Collingwood bowling

Peitersen footwork footage sure to lead news reports really quite spectacular.

Cricinfo's version of events re the Pietersen 'catch':

Quote:
It wasn't a boundary because it was more that he wasn't in control, so it counts as a drop
Does anyone else think that calling it a drop is a bit harsh? I'd call it clever fielding personally.

I think drop is very harsh indeed. Not out is the correct decision; pretty quick thinking IMO.

I'm not 100% convinced Koetzen and Bowden were completely sure straight away however.

The bowlers did not lose this match for England, as usual it was the batsmen.

If Colly was going for nearly 6 an over, and Panesar 5.5 - then it would have not made sence to bowl Bopara.

Mahmood did little worse than most, better him being hit than the new Bopora.
The pitch was full of runs - for Australia.
