April 9th, Super Eights: New Zealand v Ireland

Can't see this thread yet, so here goes. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat. After 27 overs, they are 123-4.

Yes, and I don't blame them for making a meal of it. The pitch on this Providence ground must be very difficult for those who are not used to such wickets. Do England have to play Bangladesh there?

But Wow! Did you see that Bond ball the got Bray out? If ever there was a truly unplayable delivery, that must have been it. I think every left hander in the world, Lara included, would have succumbed to that one. Ball of the tournament, IMO.

Well so far - if Ireland lose (which they should, but you never know) - they will be able to point at two things;

1. The last three overs where New Zealand scored 1/43 off 18 balls
2. Bray done in early by Bond - Bray IMO could have gotten irleand there

Now 1/14 of 5 overs - just trying to survive now, rather than to make a game of it.

Morgan needs to do something here - 6 from 34 deliveries in a ODI is just not good enough, you need to be pushing it around for singles to breakup the bowlers line and length, not helping the bowlers dominate you by defensive batting.

Well this match is all but over. With Aus and NZ steamrolling anything coming their way i would not be surprised if they play the final of this WC. They look by far the two best sides.

56-3. I cant help but feel that maybe NZ bowling attack isnt as good as Sri lankas attack..
there is no probs wiv their batting tho! Wiv gillespie out at the moment and martin not getting a game, i feel they still havnt found the right bowling combination..

Yes what a difference with 10 overs to go in the New Zealand innings, the ireland bowling fell away badly in the last three or 4 overs.
