Yep I think they have scored 1 run in 4 overs, England have not batted to improve their NRR.

England win - a lot better match than the commentators are giving both sides credit for.

Well, England have won it by 4 wickets and I have just watched ten of the most boring overs of ODI cricket that I can ever remember. No-one can be happy with the result today: Bangladesh obviously as they did not get the points; England because what could be a crucial net run rate has (if I understand the arithmetic correctly) taking a beating. Today, they should have been looking for the two points for a win and a substantial positive contribution to NRR; again, they have not delivered. As unconvincing a win for England as we may ever see (until the next one).

England have improved thier NRR - South Africa before this match had a worse NRR, which has been widened further.

So if England beat SA NRR won't even come into it.

From a minus run rate - England now have a +0.08 net run rate.

To be honest, I expected England to win easier than the meal that they made out of scoring 144 runs on a good batting pitch unhelpful to the BD spinners. If it was not the fact that this approach would affect their NRR that could become crucial in the semi-final reckoning, I would have suspected that it was a deliberate ploy on England's part to fool the watching South Africans. But if that was not really the case, then I think England will struggle to beat SA on this pitch.

England will struggle to beat the Saffers (on any pitch!), if you compare our batting to theirs we are in big trouble. Our best hope is that they do one of thier famous WC chokes .

Anyway I think people should give more credit to Bangladesh, they fought hard to the end and made us work very hard for a win. Its not as if theyve fluked their way to the super 8's. They have beaten 2 top test sides so far in the tournament something England havent done yet.

Another brilliant performance by England today, they really deserved to win this match. Special appluase must also go to Michael Vaughan, who has once again shown us that you can still keep your place in the team even if you don't know how to bat in ODI cricket.

I still think that there is more to it than what meets the eye in England's insipid performance against Bangladesh. It was an good batting pitch helping pacemen unlike the slow Guyanese one. After dismissing BD for 144, the England batsmen should have knocked off these runs in a flourish. Still, they struggled....or seemed to. Pietersen 10 runs out of 35 balls and Collingwood 23 in 88 on this pitch? Somehow, that does not sound right. I think England were trying to fool the watching South Africans whom they have to play in Barbados, but I suspect that they overplayed their hand and made it a bit too obvious.

I very much doubt it, I don't believe they could have fooled the South Africans like that, it was just over-cautious batting Nostromo.

Since when did Kevin Pietersen start getting "over-cautious"? Maybe he got told off by the management for scoring a century and losing the match against Australia and so he decided to 'struggle' against Bangladesh and see if England could then win.
