NZ finished at 219 for 7; good, fast partnership between Styris & Franklin for the 8th wicket. SL need 220, which will not be a cakewalk with Bond, Gillespie, Franklin, Oram & Vettori with Styris to help if required. They need to attack Jayasuriya around the wicket and into his body rather than give the guy width...he'll murder the ball if they do. With Sangakkara it is usually the other way...he prefers the leg side shots.

Sri Lanka off to a flyer 22 runs off the first 3 overs

Sri Lanka on full attack against the Kiwi's, New Zealand will need to get Jayasuriya soon or this game will be over for them.

Sri Lanka won at a canter. They look certain for the semi finals now with Ireland still left to play. NZ should be OK too, but they will want to try to repeat their win over South Africa from the last World Cup to be sure. England's match against South Africa could be vital for both teams.

I may be wrong on this but it is a very interesting fact. |

I checked it, the only exceptions are West Indies against Pakistan and Sri Lanka against England.
