Friday the 13th. Ireland V Australia super 8's

Will It be 'the luck of the Irish' or will Australia just jugganaught thier way to the world cup semis?
Friday the 13th has always been a supersticious day , and who knows? the irish beat Pakistan and Australia have never seen ireland play; Australia have relied on a cricket analyst for thier info, having never actually seen the Irish play 'in the flesh' so to speak.
On paper, Austarlia should win at a canter, and some of the Irish will be stage or even star struck , as for them, this is as good as it gets, playing your heros in a world cup.

I hope its a good match. Australia seem ready to experiment both with selections and the order, with rumours that Mcgrath will be rested and simmonds wil go up the order with Hussey.

The match is at the completly rebuilt Kensington oval in barbados, the same pitch that England played Bangladesh on. So a bouncy wicket could suit the bowlers and it looked difficult to get in on (for England anyway, so no change there)

Will irish eyes be smiling , or crying?

I fancy ireland to win this on, but then i've been on the Guinness all morning!

Since the organisers never expected the Ireland to get this far, it follows that it is just a coincidence that the Irish are facing the strongest ODI team in the world on Friday the 13th. Considering what happened on St Patrick's day, maybe there'll be a bit more of "the Irish" in the air today!

Australian side
AC Gilchrist, ML Hayden, RT Ponting, MJ Clarke, A Symonds, MEK Hussey, BJ Hodge, GB Hogg, SR Clark, SW Tait, GD McGrath
Looks like Braken's out?
So Mcgrath does play. And takes a wicket in his first over!

Ireland are 2 for 1, Bray's gone for 1

Its a moist wicket wicket that will favour the Australians, who won the toss and put Ireland in to bat.
Perhaps some of the Irish can hang on in there for a few overs if they can see the ball being delivered by Tait.

Ireland need to get their heads down and bat out the 50 overs. If they get 200, it will be a good show.

Quick upddate....2/2 oh dear.....Porterfield for 1 gone. Still, a nice symettry to the scoreline though...

I daren't press post incase another wicket goes..

3 down for 2 runs now. N O'Brien yorked by Tait off the first ball; this is getting embarassing.

Well, KJ O'Brien had a bit of a revenge for his brother. Two fours off Tait in the same over.

Ireland have got to hope to get beyond the lowest ODI score of 36 by Canada.(canada bowled 5 overs in return and lost by 9 wickets to SL)

Tait does seem to be spraying it around having bowled an 11 ball over. And K o'Brian's just been dropped by Ponting. Will the extra's be the top score?
Ireland have settled down abit and move onto 24 for 4. Lull them into a false sense of security!
