Hmmm you did say "all time" - well I would ague the best all time fielder was one 'Derek Randall' of Nott's and England, who also produced one of the best sledges to the great Denis Lillee.

Derek Randall to Lillee, after taking a glancing blow to the head: “No good hitting me there, mate, nothing to damage.”

With the standard of cricket going up,fielding has become an important requirement. Each fielder is good in their own ways.It will be tough to pick 'The best' fielder from the poll,I feel like voting for all of them!It will however be tougher,to spot a bad fielder.Of course, everyone isn't like a Jhonty Rodes but now a days, sloppy fieldingis decreasing because of the same reason. If there are some ordinary fielders,it would some people like Munaf Patel,Glenn McGrath etc.

You would have to say Ricky Pointing is another who should be part of the poll as I haqve seen him making even the most difficult chance look easy, but I ask how can feilding actually be measured. It is like saying what is the best every catch, because there is so many feilding postions demanding different attributes, it is far too difficult to seperate them. Another name who should be up there is Hayden he has the safest pair of hands I have seen, any body who slips for Warney must be good. Though because his other feilding attributes are not shown, because of the time spent in the slips, he is left forgotten

To be honest, When I made this thread, I came to the conclusion that Pakistan really doesn't have that many top class fielders. I am not an expert on the South Africa and India's cricket team, so I left out India and went for Greame smith as he usaully fields in the covers and normal teams but their best fielder their. Taylor for New Zealand was a tough choice to leave out, today he has proved worthy but I still think Marshall is better than him.

Nobody has mentioned Staurt Clark yet...A lot of commentators mention him and Dilshan's fielding abilities so I am suprised Staurt Clark hasn't been said. You might have to say Ponting, Symonds, Hogg and Watson are very good fielders, so overall on the balance, Australia probably have the best Fielding team closely followed by, England Soth Africa and Sri Lanka. But New Zealand are defientley in the mix.

I said I have "Selected the best Fielders from each team". Symonds is a exceptional fielder but Staurt Clark looks better by a narrow margin. To be honest, if I made a better poll, it would have the best Fielder non-stop. So that list would have Collingwood, Dilshan, Symonds, Clarke and some others...

Yeah I do, I get mixed up sometimes, forgetting which bowls and which bats.
