Mahmood, 2 over, 28 runs, no wickets. Desperate really.

Just a quick note, they are now 48 off 5 overs - while we were, erm, 5.

Is that any surprise? Why he plays ahead of Plunkett (or any other frontline bowler in English county cricket) escapes me.

Nixon is the real laugh though: ball went straight through the batsmen and over the top of the stumps... and this so called "wicket-keeper" (read chatterbox with gauntlets) let it through for four byes!

Yep no pressure on South Africa at all, Anderson going for 8 an over - Flintoff being carted.

Not the fault of the bowlers - they are being shown how to bat by the South Africans, how to chase a modest total.

England are - and look a beaten side.

Ern - at least some of this hopeless display has to be the fault of the bowlers. Let's face it: England are playing this game like a bunch of amateurs. As Nasser Hussain pointed out a few moments ago, there is old style one-day cricket (block early, go for the runs late) and the new style (get the runs in the power plays). The South Africans have reached the 21st century and England haven't. As to the bowling, well South Africa have done some. I haven't seen a single good ball from England's "attack" this evening. The whole team looks completely hopeless, bar no-one. I simply can't believe what I am seeing here.

I can believe it oc. It's just a shower.

I'm really disapointed at this performance but I'm not surprised. England cant get to the semis now and the game v WI is a 'dead rubber'

Yes some is, but when batsmen are slogging at it is coming off, then not a lot a bowler can do - not saying England have bowled well today.

But over the world Cup - in particular against Sri Lanka, the England bowling has done OK, the front line batsmen have let England down every game.

"The whole team looks completely hopeless" - I agree.

And that crappy piece of fielding by Mahmood just puts the icing on the cake!

Poor fielding now. We may as well just keep bowling panasar for a quick finish
