It was the worst form of anti-climax imaginable and if any of the organisers defend it, they ought to be put in a straight-jacket and shipped to Devil's Island without further delay. The final was thrown off-balance as soon as the game was foreshortened and to bring in the dreaded Duckworth-Lewis on top of that was nothing short of a farce. If we thought it could not get any worse, the umpires decided to make it a complete fiasco with permutations about bad light etc. I think the entire establishment should hang their heads in shame.

It's easier said than done. Many people would have planned stuff according to this and taken the day off from their work etc.It would have made them really angry if the match was postponed to the next day. With the kind of weather out there,it might have rained the next day as well.

Oh well,a pathetic farcical end to the worst world cup in memory.I do not blame West Indies for this fiasco it is all ICC's fault. The competition was far too long and i lost interest long before the super 8's finished.

Well done Australia who are worthy champions again, just a shame it ended so bizarrely.

Shame? Not at all. CMJ and Viv were delighted to witness such high farce from the commentary box and I, for one, will hold it dear as one of the great ODI cricketing episodes: it's going to ensure this World Cup gets talked about long after anyone can actually recall the cricket!

Telstra Dome is a good venue but last time Hussey hit a missive six that didnt count because it hit the roof and came back into the field. Congrads to the Australian side, not many people thought they had the bowlers. McGrath too old, Tait to inexperienced and inaccurate, Hogg not good enough, Bracken has been under-rated by all and No Lee.

Australia's main bowlers
McGrath - 26 wickets at 13.73
Tait - 23 wickets at 20.30
Hogg - 21 wickets at 15.80
Bracken - 16 wickets at 16.12
Watson - 4 wickets at 54.25

Australia's batting
Hayden - 659 runs at 73.22 - Sr 101.97
Ponting - 539 runs at 67.37 - Sr 95.39
Gilchrist - 453 runs at 45.30 - Sr 103.89
Clarke - 436 runs at 87.20 - Sr 94.98
Symonds - 189 runs at 63.00 - Sr 98.43
Hodge - 152 runs at 76.00 - Sr 129.91
Watson - 145 runs at 145.00 - Sr 170.58
Hussey - 87 runs at 17.40 - Sr 75.00
Hogg - 45 runs at - (did not go out) - Sr 214.28

I thought Hayden's performances with the bat was more crucial to their success than McGrath with the ball, and I was rooting for him to win the player of the tournament award. I guess they wanted to given pidgeon the "dream farewell".
