Relieved that the most boring world cup is over at last....

Congratulations to Australia on their success, they deserve it. But I believe it is a sad day for cricket that one team continues to dominate....

Definitely a shorter tournament needed, and if the next one is in Aust/NZ they may as well pencil in Telstra Dome (Melbourne) for the final then rain, hail, total eclipse or tornado it wont matter because it's a roofed stadium.

Only holds 50000 fans but considering the TV coverage I think that will become a minor detail.

Exactly. There seems to be so much hostility aimed at australia for being the best, like they should play worse or something.
It is a shame that there is one team on another level to everyone else, but do you blame the team who is at the top level or the teams who are falling short?
Surely if you like the game of cricket you want it to be played at the highest standard possible, australia should be applauded for mastering the game, and cricket fans should be disappointed in other cricketing nations for not mastering the game.
Do we really want australia to become as bad as everyone else, or do we want everyone else to become as good?
I think after this world cup the only nation which shouldn't be copping criticism is Australia, but it seems to be the opposite.
It's not like americans dominating american football and patting themselves on the back, that is lame because america invented the sport and no one else plays it.
England invented cricket, and it's a top sport in many countries with huge populations.
These nations should just have way better cricket teams, that is where the problem lies, not with australia. Australia is the only healthy piece of the puzzle at the moment and bitterness and criticism from cricket fans should be directed towards anywhere but australia.

I agree with all you say, however, all types of football originated for the UK.

American football originated in the uk?
I know it descends from rugby (or it's primitive ancestor) which originated in the uk, but the sport of american football with the quarterback and the wide recievers and the linebackers and whatever else arose in america right?

What a horrible way for it to end, it should have been carried onto the reserve day for a full match.. this in my opinion hardly even constituted as the final. Pretty much sums the world cup.
