WI now 67/2 after 12.2 overs. Gayle gone after smashing Sidebottom for six the previous ball. IMO Sidebottom will get carted against better teams in the 1 day game. Chanderpaul at 3 is a positive move for the West Indies. What is a decent score here 260.

Sidebottom not doing too well it seems, makes Plunkett's non-selection all the less justifiable unless Sidebottom returns for his last spell and takes wickets for few runs. However if they are going to try him then it seems he'll be given a few games and that's fair.

109/2 after 27.5 overs, Collingwood and Mascarenhas applying the brakes.

That's true, but I am saying I feel Plunkett - Anderson are future test players, and should not get their schooling being carted in one day cricket.

I agree with plunkett being left out, and Yardy replacing him - if you see what I mean.

Again they deserve their share of the credit, I don't think I have said different, but I am far from convinced Bell is a one day player, one innings outscoring Pietersen won't convince me yet.

No "double stadards" - I just believe the players mentioned should be left to test cricket, also the myth created that Flintoff is a great one day player should be exposed - he plays his best cricket in tests.

I don't care if Bell plays one day cricket or not - I would like to see him replaced in the test side, he is not needed with Collingwood in fine form.

A lack of penetration however, which Plunkett does provide as could Panesar potentially. These two are well set but hopefully Anderson and Broad can do some late damage by keeping it straight.

West Indies 184-2 - with 9 overs remaining.

My guess 265.
Why not Panesar for Yardy. I am sure he would have broken this partnership by now.

My guess is 287. Windies have many wickets in hand and the way Anderson is bowling and with Sidebottom to come, we are in fore a few good overs.

Edit: Sidebottom taken for 19 in his comeback over. WI 238/2

Sidebottom getting caned now, I'm convinced that messing with a winning side was a bad idea. Not blaming Sidebottom alone, but we have two very well set batsmen with little to threaten them having come from the bowler's end since about the twelfth over. Looking like 260-270.

Sidebottom's not bowled well today. Should they have left Plunkett out? I would have done, Sid doesn't usually bowl this badly!

In hindsight it looks like Plunkett should have played but I do think that playing Anderson and Plunkett could be asking for trouble. Anderson may get wickets but he never bowls a 10 over spell for less than 60 runs. Who is to say that Plunkett would have done better than Sidebottom. The last game was on a seam friendly wicket. I think the selectors gambled on Sidebottom being more accurate and it failed. I am not convinced with Sidebottom being a 1 day player.

The big question is why was Yardy included ahead of Panesar. Yardy should be playing school cricket

Sidebottom was being talked of as a ODI player earlier in the summer before he got his Test call up. He is widely recognised as a good limited overs bowler. His last over was very good, excellent use of change of pace.

What is it with Chanderpaul this summer? England just don't seem to be able to get him out!

Maybe in county cricket yes but in 1 day cricket he will get murdered. Anyway he bowled poorly but he was still better than Anderson. I just cant understand the loyalty that this guy(Anderson) receives. I will admit that his first few 1 day games were impressive but ever since, he has been serving pies on a regular basis. And people complain about Mahmood.

Chanderpaul has been outstanding this summer and it was a good move by Gayle to promote him. I think that Gayle is an aggressive captain and it may just suit WI style in 1 days. Broad bowled well again.

Its going to be tight chase and England will need to get off to a flyer.
