| Ridiculous. If he's fit, select him. If he's not fit, bench him. Plain stupid to give him what amounts to a fitness test in the face of the opposition and almost a guarantee that he will get injured again ahead of a difficult winter in order to make an appearance in a pyjama series at the end of the summer. At the moment Flintoff is in the squad, not the team: I hope the selectors come to their senses. Wouldn't put money on it though.

| New look regime but an almost identical incompetent handling of injured players to the old one. Now I'm prepared to forgive Moores for making a few mistakes in his first few months in charge (most notably Harmison who's back playing after only 3 weeks followng his belated hernia op) but the one survivor from the Fletcher era David Graveney really should have learnt his lesson in rushing back half fit players. How he's kept his job whilst others have been made scapegoats for recent poor performances is beyond me particularly given he was the brains behind giving (the half fit) Flintoff the captaincy for the Ashes debacle. | Our bowling attack definatly needs him, but I feel he is back a bit soon. Put him back in the counties, see how he plays and select him for the Twenty-20 squad or last few ODI's aaginst India. We will want a Freddie in form with the bat this time but he hasn't even hit a ton for a long time. We cannot afford to just rush hm back in the team and he goes out and gets injured. What's more, he could play really badly and get criticised. I think for the first 4 ODI's, he should play for Lancashire and for the last 3, we should consider selecting him if he is proved to be fully fit and in some form. |
