Akhtar and Asif incident

I just read on cricinfo that Asif has been injured in a spat with Akhtar. When will these guys ever learn. They need to grow up and realise that they are role models representing their country. I think that Shoaib should just be banned. I dont think that he will be missed. He is currently on probation yet this does not deter him from acting like an idiot.

Why does Pakistan make headlines for anything but cricket. They will never become a good side with all the infighting and politics that go on in the team. The new coach must be regretting his decision to take over.

What are your thoughts

If i was Lawson i would be wondering what the hell i'd let myself in for.

They just can't help themselves with the infighting for some strange reason, they always have to press the self destruct button and for every step forward they take 2 back.

Quite right Greg.

Update: Akhtar has been sent home and will play no part in the twenty20 world cup. Akhtar has admitted to striking Asif with a cricket bat on his thigh after an argument.

Surely this is the last straw and at 32 I think Pakistan should put an end to his international career.

I thought that after the drug incident, but he just keeps coming back, partly because he is a great talent, but also because Pakistani cricket is all over the place so often.

The fact is that he has been allowed to get away with so much over the years, and despite being banned for ball tampering, for faking injuries, skipping tours, drug scandals, bust ups with other team members and the board; he still gets selected whenever he wants!!

He has been given the impression that he is above the law and bigger than the game. Take the recent example of walking out on a training camp, he gets fined, but after an appeal he gets off again, and is back in the team.

The guy is a tremendous talent, a truly fast bowler and one of the most exciting bowlers to watch, but he has not been handled at all well by the PCB, the selectors and the management.

Despite hitting a fellow team mate, I do not feel this is the last we will see of him.

This is ridiculous behavior. Its all PCB's mistake. Akhtar kept on making mistakes and PCB kept on excusing him. He is under probation right now and yet he has the guts to hit a team mate just before the world cup begins. Now one panel will punish him, he will appeal and another panel will let him go and we will reading about his comeback for the next tournament. He faked injuries and got away, he pushed around Bob Woolmer and got away. Got into several conflicts with team mates, his captains and coaches and got away, walked out of a training amp and got away, took drugs and got away. Whats left?

Everything concerning Shoaib Akhter is always very important and always gone wrong. PCB should investigate and should bring both players back home and ask what happened. there should be something which lead him to do this.

If I was you, I would have not followed up with shoaib's past that closely IF he was not in my good books. Lets not watch those games in which he is participating. How is that?

Cricinfo - It should have stayed in the dressing room - Shoaib

Hmm. It appears Akhtar's passing the buck onto Shahid Afridi... Methinks this needs to be sorted, and quick, else this'll rumble on for some time.

If one follows cricket and keeps reading stories on cricinfo, its almost impossible not to know what Shoaib is doing. I am not going to quit watching matches because of Shoaib Akhtar. Why am I getting a feeling that you are supporting him?
