New ODI rules introduced

From the BBC:

BBC SPORT | Cricket | One-day rule changes introduced

One of the biggest improvements in my eyes is the lengthening of the minimum boundary size (if only by 10 yards though). Hopefully in a few years the ICC may add another 10 yards onto the minimum size.

Of the rest of the rule changes the only other change of interest is the free hit for a no ball. This may finally encourage bowlers to keep some part of thier foot behind the line!

Changing the ball after 35 overs means not much chance of reverse swing. I guess the panel that make up these rules must be batsmen.

I'm sure that rule was brought in because the ball was always getting changed when the batsman claimed is was getting darker and they couldnt see it. At least now the ball change isnt random. Although i'm sure i heard somewhere that they would be changing the ball for one of an equivalent age .

I'm pleased to see the time-wasting issue is being partially addressed... but I'd have liked to see some serious focus on bowlers having to wait between balls because batsmen are not ready.
