Well I wish Pakistan more success against the South African's than the England rubgy side had at the weekend.

Pakistan will wan't to salvage some pride - after going down in the test series 1-0.

Why? Are Pakistan really the underdogs in a home ODI series? Is there anything so glorious about the Pakistan ODI side that impartial observers should prefer to see a ODI series victory? Is there any good reason why one should hope for SA defeat?

The logic escapes me...

No!

There was no attempt at "logic" - just a vague connection between England/Pakistan v South Africa, nothing more.

Hope you didn't get up too early, Ern! There's no sign of a match yet - Cricinfo has scheduled start at 0930 BST.

I can't understand the need to bring Mohammad Asif back this early. The most promising young bowler in the world today should be given a rest and told to get ready for the tour. The elbow's been troubling him so what do Pakistan (who have won the last two games) done.

Have they not followed the careers of Michael Vaughan and Andrew Flintoff recently???

Yes, Asif's selection is bizarre. The reports coming out of the camp and the PCB till a day ago were unanimous that he was not back to full fitness. I don't believe in overnight miracle cures, especially for a long-term injury - so why rush him back in a relatively unimportant ODI fixture, where his presence would make hardly any difference? Why not give him another two weeks off so he is ready for the all-important India tour?

Well, Pakistan making a right meal of it. The in-form Yousuf run-out, leaving Pak 45/3 after 15 overs, having won the toss!

Well whatever time they started - South africa leveled the series, means there is a meaning to the end of the series, rather than a dead rubber.

Yes, I saw that for tomorrow's game, Ern - but even for that one "you pays your money and takes your choice". Cricinfo has it scheduled for a start at 0600 GMT tomorrow. Either way, I shan't be watching!
