CB series- India vs Australia 17th Feb

Indian pacers are once again testing the Australian batting line up. 156/6 after 40 overs. A target below 200 should not be too difficult for India to chase.

After having Aussies 6/112, the Indian bowlers should have restricted Aussie score to 130-140. Instead the Aussies managed 203 which is a handy total on this pitch, where the ball (particularly the white ball) tends to swing at night.

The Aussie bowlers, particularly Bracken have got a realistic chance of making a match out of this. It is upto the Indian batsmen (they are one batsman less in this match) to rise to the occassion.

Sachin Gone. India at 28/1 right now. A couple of good partnerships will see India home.

One thing of note is that not only has Ponting got out cheaply for the fifth time in a row, he's gotten out all five times in an identical fashion. He's always had a technical weakness to those sorts of balls, which stems from not playing with anything close to a straight bat, and in fact seems to rely very much on his brilliant hand-eye coordination to score runs, rather than a sound technique. It will make things very, very interesting if the other countries can learn from India's and Sri Lanka's exploitation of his technical weakness, and apply that to their own bowling attacks. Because if they do, I can't see him maintaining the level of dominance he's built up over the last five years for too much longer.

Saying that, he'll still be a force, crooked bat or no- he'll just be a fallible force, not an invincible one.

Despite a relatively poor score by Oz, Hopes has given them hope (pun intended ). India 62/4 with Dhoni and a woefully out of form Yuvraj Singh at the crease.

Time for Yuvraj to get his form back. He can relax, use as many deliveries as we wants and make sure that he stays there till the end. We need a good partnership from these two now.

Just as it had started to look as though Yuvraj was getting back on track, he's holed Hogg out to deep mid-wicket. Fool!

This Indian batting lineup has an amazing ability of making any target look difficult. Now these 89 runs will be very tough to score.

Pathetic performance by the Indians. First her bowlers allow Australia to score 203 after having them 6/112 and then Indian batting simply collapsed against an ordinary bowling attack.

I reverse my prediction about India winning the CB series trophy. Australia should win the last ever tri-series with comfortable ease.

Nice to see a few games where ball dominates bat i must say, irrespective of the result. The batsmen around the world have been batting on roads far too long and they are now been found wanting.

Dhoni got his just deserts. He could have batted on without a runner. He did'nt and paid the price. Once again, serves him right.

My suspicions were once again confirmed, as they were during the last world cup. The Australian bowling linup is far superior without Lee. Had Lee played, i reckon the Aussies would have lost.

Aussies are the best team in the world it is true. Doesn't mean they will win the finals though. It's ODI's - anything can happen on the day, and the tri-series is still wide open IMO.
