| I have nothing to add to what's already been said, no one should have any problems with Wasim helping out XYZ with their cricket. What I do I want to point out is that a comparision between Wasim and Irfan is farfetched, at this point in time at least. At similar stages in their careers Wasim had a much better bowling average (in the high 20s as apposed to high 30s for Pathan) (and that without having taken 10 wickets against Bangladesh like Irfan has). No disrepect to Pathan, he is a talented bowler, but comparision with an all time great like Wasim so early in his career seem totally abrupt. Needless to say unjustified too, not only on Wasim, but on Pathan him self too. If at all these comparisions have done anything they have only made things that much tougher for Pathan, who is now having to to live up to the increased expectations and pressure of his many admirers, something he is in my opinion struggling to do, as was demonstarted by his unsatisfactory performances in home series against Pakistan. It is one thing having a good 2 years or so, and totally another having a good 2 decades or so. Irfan is not even close to Wasim in terms of skill. He is yet to develope the art of swinging the ball away from the batsmen and still relies on his natural ability to swing the ball into the batsmen, something that has given him success against players like Yousuf Youhanna who've struggled against him because of their fairly high-ish back lift. Pathan also does not bowl any way near the speeds Wasim used to bowl when he was his age, neither does he have the same skills when it comes to reverse swinging the ball. Pathan is novice. Wasim an all time legend. Enough said. |

| Rod Marsh just completed a four year term as head of England's cricket academy. His time as head coach coincided with a time England revived them selves as a test team, winning a record number of consecutive tests and now poised to beat Australia in the Ashes. This also coincides with the time that 50% of the test teams have Australian coaches (King - West Indies, Whatmore - Bangladesh, Chappel - India, Moody - Sri Lanka and Buchanan - Australia). Bennett King actually resigned from his post at head of Queensland Cricket Academy before taking up his post at West Indies. Yet have we seen any Australia fans complain about the rest of the world "stealing their talents"? No. This is how world cricket and indeed the whole word is now-a-days. And there is absolutely nothing wrong in this as far as my opinion is concerned. Plus we have to understand that Wasim Akram's word of advice is available for every one and anyone in world cricket, regardless of his nationality. He does not go and talk to players him self though, you have to go and ask him if you need any kind of advice or assistance (which makes as much logic as some one going to a well do drink water and not the well coming up to that person when he or she feels thirsty). Irfan and other Indian bowlers themselves sought Wasim for help, and he obliged. I can see absolutely nothing wrong in that. And those who are, I am sorry to say, are basically making a mountain out of mole hill. Wasim has been on record saying numerous times that no Pakistani bowler has ever come up to him to ask anything. May be that is because we do not have a left arm seamer in our side at the moment, and our bowlers are content with the coaching they are getting from the team staff. Whatever the reason I cannot see why people should be so infuriated by this whole issue made out of a non-issue. We more then enough talent on our hand. | sad to read these lines. Talents can not be stolen. A wasim or a Dravid can not give away talent. I am very happy to see India and Pakistan getting along better on several fronts out of which Cricket is one. It wont go further if we fans dont support the players who are taking initiatives. |
