Ad-hoc commities

I really don't like how the PCB is run on these temporary commities, while most all the other boards are run effectively and orginised manner, look at the ECB they are looking to improve their board by cutting bown and conserving, maybe PAK, should take a leaf out of CA's book, what do u think?

The PCB is not run by an ad-hoc committee, it has been run by its own Chairman, Board and members for a long while now, as far as I know.

The main issue is the finalisation of the Constitution, which can be quite a complex process due to the necessity of arriving at a consensus and ensuring that divergent view-points are at least heard, if not represented. Also, over the past couple of years there has always been something else that is of greater and more urgent significance; home series v India, organising a foreign coach and implementing a professional coaching/training regime, revamping the domestic cricket structure, finding local sponsors, starting Twenty20, dealing with an away series v India, the list goes on and on.... drafting dry legal documents sometimes has to take a back seat, though I agree this needs to be finalised sooner rather than later.

yes but there needs to be commitees set, to over see coaching posts and media responsibilities, and what of the answering of failiures to the parliament? I don't see the NBA( national basketball association (U.S.) answering to congress on why they did not win gold at the olympics.

PCB has had since the early 1950's to sort this out, u whould think they would have got it by now, and a commitee that has the responsibility of writing a constitution, in my view has no reason to take a break while other things are going on, the rest of the people in the board should be responsible for that.

I don't like criticizing my own board, but they don't really leave a choice?

The Senate Standing Comittee on Sports very existence is questionable let alone it's constant demand that various sporting boards should give them reasons for failure in writing. It is ridiculous. As if the Senate does not have more pressing issues to deal with. I'd much rather prefer seeing them show the same zeal and enthusiasm when it comes to solving the country's other problems, outside of the world of sport.

It must be a nightmare trying to run PCB while constantly looking over their shoulders to see when Senate Committee will summon them to explain even the tiniest operational details.

I do have sympathy for your general point, and I agree that it is a tough ask. However, as far as the PCB is concerned, it goes with the territory really - the reason Shehryar Khan is the Chairman is not because of his non-existent cricket knowledge or his pitiful commercial acumen; he runs the PCB because after 30 odd years in the Foreign Office, he is best placed to deal with the various lobbying organisations, stakeholders, pressure groups and other competing interests that are vying for influence in the whole set-up.

Negotiating with the often recalcitrant district cricket associations, with their entrenched political operatives are one aspect of his job, another aspect is mollifying the egos of the players and the sponsors, and a third is placating the politicians and the public. If all his diplomatic expertise, his civil service upbringing and his bureaucratic know-how has not prepared him for that, then he should not be in this job!
