Yep, that's the one. Even though Warne did get a handful of wickets, he didn't get Malik out even once, plus Malik did score heavily in at least 2 occassions. I also remember, much later, when Malik was already embroiled in the match fixing saga, he was selected to play for Pakistan in Australia, just to neutralise Warne.

The big innings was 237 runs off 328 balls when Pakistan were following on in the second Test. A measure of the pitch is given by the fact that Mushtaq Ahmed returned figures of 36-2-145-1 as Australia made 521/9 declared. Warne was, however, ineffective rather than expensive:
Code:
Saleem Malik
1st innings b McDermott 33 83 47 6 0
2nd innings c Healy b Fleming 237 443 328 34 0

Warne O M R W
1st innings 21.4 8 58 1
2nd innings 25 6 56 0
So ineffective he completed fewer overs than McDermott and Fleming in each innings!

The 3rd Test might be the one that sticks in your mind though:
Code:
Saleem Malik
1st innings c Bevan b May 75 186 137 10 0
2nd innings b Bevan 143 313 242 19 0

Warne O M R W
1st innings 41.5 12 136 6 (1nb)
2nd innings 30 2 104 3 (2nb)
Warne went at a far greater rate than May... but still ended up shouldering a far greater workload.. and got the wickets.

ps. Warne and Malik were named men of the series.
