yousuf youhana embraces islam ,subhan-Allah

the pakistani cricket star yousuf youhana embraces islam ,publicly,masha-Allah...
"The conversion took place with members of a 'tableegi jamaat' present with him in Mecca where he and his family said the Kalma and later performed Umra," a cricketer was quoted as saying by 'The News' on Saturday.

The news has been around for quite a while actually. Last Thursday, which was the last time an edition of the Daily Express was delivered to my house (take a sigh of relief everyone, I've unsuscribed from them now) the paper run a front page story speculating on an impending official announcement. Yesterday I was told by certain private sources the same news, including a prediction that his new name would be Mohammad Yousuf.

Several media agencies have now reported the story :

Such rumours were heard once before as well but Youhana came out and clarified the situation quickly.

Zainub, I believe it was "The News" which first published this piece of news. I'm not that sure how much we should trust Waheed Khan and his anonymous sources.

There has been no confirmation from any player nor has any credible website reported this. All these websites above, they are all quoting The News as their source and it doesn't seem to lend the rumours a hand.

Hopefully we'll get a clarification soon.

Such rumours, you are right, have been around for quite a while. Thing is, this time Youhanna's neither come out and denied these reports, not has he confirmed them - such a stance always leads to speculation.

Either way I wish him and his wife, Tanya well.

Apparently he also joined the team in prayer on Saturday at the Gadaffi before making the annoucment.

I wish him and his family all the best.

I dont like the idea that he forced his wife and children to convert too. Taking your non-beliving children out of a secular school and putting them into an Islamic school is very unfair on the kids.

What was he before he converted?

A christian, a devout one.

He made the sign of the cross after a century, but this year against Australia didnt. A little bit disappointing, as I had admiration for him being a christian in a muslim country, but you can't interfere with his personal beliefs.

Beny, Beny, Beny...how on earth can you accuse him of something so serious without no evidence? As far as I am aware his wife has converted on her own will. And the kid, they have a baby daughter so it should be kid not kids, is far too young to make such decesions for her self. Going to Islamic School is probably the best thing that can happen to a young covert, I suspect she would have found the adjustment much tougher if she'd continued to go to secular school. And going to an Islamic School is no rarity - thousands and thousands of peopple in this country put their children in Islamic Schools. Such schools have a very good reputation - that of of producing enlightened , educated and polished young children. It is not unfair on Yousuf's baby daughter by any stretch of imagination.

Either way what he does in his personal life is non of anyone's concern.

The source said Youhana had already enrolled his children in a school with Islamic leanings after discontinuing their education in a modern, private school.
Quote:
"The truth is Youhana had tried to take the decision to become a Muslim some years back but facing lot of opposition and emotional blackmail from his wife, parents and other relatives, he stalled the inevitable. He then convinced his wife and children of the need to become Muslims and some players had also played a key role in this process," the report said
Perhaps the report is wrong. In anycase I wont pretend that I am at all in favour of religious schooling, personaly I would be happy to see mandotory secular education. I remember walking around as a five year old thinking rediculous things about christianity and the world... No child can understand religion and it is simple indoctronation to expose kids to that sort of thing at a young age. Kids will always belive whatever adults tell them.

If Youhana wanted to become a muslim then fine, but he should not have preassured his family to follow his choices.

No but it still makes good chit-chat
