I don't see what these letters are going to acheive, except probably massaging the egos of the two Ws. It is left entirely upto the two bolwers to decide when they want to grace the academy. Plus it appears to be on a voluntary basis, i.e. probably the Wasim and Waqar won't be paid anything for their services, so I can't see how they will get anything of use out of this arrangement.

Exactly the point I am trying to make Orchid, these former players work with the younger one anyway all they have to do is ask, but what I am advocating is having PAID FULLTIME batting and bowling coaches with the team always, nto on a voluntary basis and maybo only twice a year, i think PCB made a huge error earlier this year by not giving Waqar a contract at least until the 2007 WC.

In this aspect I think PCB is making foolish decisions.

It’s a bit of a surprise why the PCB are always this reluctant to hire paid professionals, not just for coaching jobs but also for administrative positions. Ramiz Raja’s stint as CEO Cricket Operations, a post now taken by Saleem Altaf, was reportedly voluntary as well. It’s not like the PCB is short on funds, they are in fact the richest sports organisation in this country. Why then they are reluctant to spend money on these things is there fore very questionable. It makes you wonder where all the money goes. Doesn’t it? Especially considering the concept of central contracts has only just been introduced in Pakistan Cricket. So it’s clearly not a case of all the money (or most of it) going into the players’ pocket, I’m sure our players don’t earn anyway near enough cricketers from other countries for that matter. One is left with only one place to point fingers at in such a scenario: the power hungry people right at the top.

and the president is a big patron of the PCB.

If only people worked to make cricket better and not for themselves.
