Assistant Coaches -- A good idea?

I just saw an article on Cricinfo where Ponting was saying how England have a good setup.
SO I began to wonder,

a) Could Pakistan improve drastically if we also hired two assitant coaches, namely a batting and bowling coach in our national team setup?
- Yes, I do believe that Pakistan could improve dramaticaly, if they had these two coaches, because alot of players could benifit from the individual attention that could be given them with more hands aboard the ship.
b) If so would who should they hire in both positions?
- I would say hire, Waqar Younis (Bowling Coach) and Saeed Anwar*/Javed Miandad (Batting)
c) And to what effect would they be helpful?
- I think they would be of immense help, sonsidering it would free up Bob alot to try new things with the team and bring new techniqes in while the player technical stuff can be handled by the assistant coaches.

* Saeed Anwar would be my first choice, mainly because he does not have periodical outbursts.

I'd go a step further Captain, I'd get a specialist wicket keeping and fielding coach as well, not to forget a sports psychologists. These things are no longer a luxary in professional sport, they are a neccesity.

Yes i agree Z, but i would say what you said is tru, but these people should be acailable at the acadamy at all times and if you read my post in the "England tour to Pakistan, pt. 2" you will see why i think they should be available at the acadamy and these two positions i mentioned should be on tour with the team.

Assistant coaches can be a big help to every team not just Pakistan and it has been proven that mordern day coaching works-look at England!, We have seen amazing inprovements in every bowler in the England attack especially Steven Harmison. Troy Cooley of England has done a brilliant job and should be knighted!

But what Pakistan have what other teams don't, is that they are have quality bowlers who could coach. Wasim Akram can be a excellent bowling when he showed us when he coached Irfan Pathan for a short period and he also admitted to coach Andrew Flintoff on reverse Swing. Waqar Younis a bowling legend could also be a brilliant bowling coach for Pakistan if he was given the chance by the PCB.

For the batting pakistan could hire former legends Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad, but im not sure if Saeed Anwar would be available because of his religious work. Javed Miandad would be a good choice because he was the former coach and would knwo hat to do with the players.

So all in all two assistant coaches would be a necessity for Pakistan if they want to be a force in cricket.

Saeed Anwer has previously spend time at the Pakistan Academy in Lahore, and has frequently mentioned his availibility for doing any thing in the benefit of Pakistan Cricket. I'm certain he will be available given the PCB approach him. If anything I am not entirely sure if some one like Wasim Akram will have the time - his ESPN commitments are seemingly multiplying by the second now-a-days.

And he will be a very controversial choice in the team, perhaps even resented by some of the current players and thus harmful for team morale. Pakistan have only just started playing as a team now under Woolmer and Inzi after 15 long years - we certainly do not want a return to the "team ethic" of the early and mid 1990s!

This was why the only name mentioned as a bowling coach for the recent Indian tour was Waqar's - if PCB had the sense to offer him something more longer-term than just one series, he would have been in.
