Indeed. Agreed totally. But it's entertaining and that's the bottom line.

AFRIDI one in a millon

no matter what you say the fact of the matter is people all over the world enjoy watching him because he is a one in a million player here are the facts

1. he has the two fastest hundereds in the history of cricket.

2. has hit more sixes than anyone in ODI in fewer games (aprox 210) and many more to come (inshaallah).

3. out of the 12 fastest fifties in the history of ODIs Afridi has 4, two of wich are joint second.

4. only player in history with a strike rate of over hundered (105.71 - 12th april 05).

5. the most sixes in an ODI innings (11) jont with Jayasuriya.

his average is low due to the number of ODIs his played the fact is when he is in form he is in form, the commitee was right to pick him because he was in form just look at the recent ODI series between Pakistan and India if he did not perfom against India than they would have made a mistake in picking him but he was in form with bat and ball i think you should watch the forthcoming series between Pakistan and England and will (inshaallah) see afridi hit Harmison and co for fours and big sixes.

adios ameego

He is a player that I would classify in the dangerous player category. What I mean by that is that I would not be extremly confident of him doing while in a particular match if I was a fan of the team he was playing for, but on the other side I would be worried as an oppostion fan as to what he may or could do. This is why I am happy as an Australian fan when playing against him to get him out early, because if you don't you know he will make you suffer.

Afridi is a type of cricketer pakistan need at the top of the order, now i dont expect him to hit a century or fifty every game but the fact is if he hits 20 off 8 balls, 30 off 15 balls or 40 off 22 balls its enough all a team needs is a good start now if you look at all the teams around the world they have attacking hiters oppening, Australia have Gilchrist, England have Trescothick, India have Sehwag, New Zealand have Astle, Pakistan have Afridi, South Africa have Gibbs, Sri Lanka have Jayasuriya and West Indies have Gayle they are all there to give the team a good start. They will get ducks and 1s n 5s but when they make runs the team will be in a really good position.

A good start could be the differrence between a team having 260 and having 300+ and the reason Australia get in the region of 300 in most ODIs is because they have the best oppener in the world in Adam Gilchrist, one of the best middle order batsman Ricky Ponting and one of the most distructive hiter on the planet in Andrew Symonds.

These days with all these big hiters around i think the key to a ODI is the start, a good start usually means a victory and apart from Afridi Pakistan dont really have an attacking oppener that can give them a flying start so this message is to all the pakistan selection team keep Afridi in the team we need him.

PEACE to everyone.
