I think Pakistan have more of a chance of winning the ODI's because I don't think they would be able to win the tests. There are many reasons for this, these are some of them:
  1. Shahid Afridi will make a big difference at the start of the innings with his explosive batting and his bowling is under-rated, he is a good bowler in the ODI's i believe, i think he will trouble the English batsmen who are weak at playing spin.
  2. Pakistan have to good all-rounders in the ODI's (they are not test qaulity but they are very handy in ODI's) Shoiab Malik can be a good batsmen on his day and can bowl effective off-spin, but it will be interesting to see how he will bowl after his action came under scrutiny. Abdul Razzaq is improving player and his batting could come handy at the end of the innings, he is able to bowl reverse swing so it is interesting to see how the English batsmen will play it.
  3. England are weaker in the ODI's compared to the tests. Michael Vaughan is one of the worst ODI batsmen on the planet and i would put money on Irfan Pathan to score more runs. The seamers are also not as effective as they are in tests. The selection is also not as consistant as it is in tests, we have seen batting line up changes, new players going in and out etc.
  4. Inzimam is one of the world best batsmen in the shorter format and will be a huge influence on the performance of the Pakistan team.

Pakistan has a very good chance in the ODI's but I think that England will win the test series.

Still, cricket is completely unpredictable as so much can depend on a single ball. I thought England were going to be hammered by Oz and I was proved wrong so who knows what will happen?

This poll is slightly unfair as there is no "neither" option.

Obviously Greeny we don't have a chance, even with the ODI player of the year in our team. Ah well....

Woo-hoo, 350.

I've changed it to "Which do you think Pakistan has a better chance in".

Same reasons as Waseem, ODI's.

I think Pakistan will win both the ODI's and the tests. But that's purely spoken from the heart!

Seriously, they have an equal chance in both forms of the game. But a better chance in the ODI's certainly. The test will probably be a draw. England will win the first one, the second one a draw, Pakistan will win the 3rd.

arsalan, do you think it's a good idea to have Shoaib Malik opening the innings. I don't have a problem with BUtt, although I think he has some technical flaws to work on....But as far as technique is concerned, Malik does not have what it takes to be a good opener.

I think Woolmer has got it wrong (if the reports are anything to go by, and he persists with Malik as opener) ...And it's not like he does not have any other options.

Waseem, at the risk of sounding stupid...(And I know you're an Indian fan) but why do you mention Irfan scoring a lot of runs, in a thread about Pakistan and England...
