Certainly, he is a good player, but no way near in the same class as Sachin. And yes, it's fair to say after 12 fantastic months this series wasn't quite as affective for him, but the very fact that despite that his contributions that came via his captaincy whenever he's had the chance to lead us, and the runs when he made them, haven't been called into question overtly dramatically is testament to how quickly he's become an integral member of this Pakistan side. The most admirable bit about him is that he's one of those blokes whose own form doesn't desert him from enjoying the game, and the success of his team mates. And he always manages to see the funnier side of things (raised his bat to the crowd today when he got off the mark after 2 successive scores of zero). I'm positive he'll have a long career ahead of him, but for starters he could do no worse then do the following to get some of the building pressure of his back: 1)Get some big runs against India 2)Get a haircut 3)Either shave completely or join the rest of the team in their 'Facial Hair Rocks Campaign' (one which I fully endorse BTW) 4)Consider a tooth bleach/whitening , the difference it could bring to his smile would be immense: ![]()

nice post ZB I fully agree with all that you have said ...lets not forget that he has lost his brother just before the start of the third test match and i think he is not able to concentrate 100%.. but over all he is a great fighter and since coming back in the team he has scored almost in every series and lets not forget that he is the one who is getting good scores over seas also....which is a sign of a good player...but yes not as good as sachin or inzi or even yousaf

Yes, it's not been any easy season or so off the field for Younis, he also lost his father in December. Last edited by Zainub : 21-12-2005 at 07:54 PM.

| Feel For The Guy Yeah you guys are right. Younis is having a great CRICKET year, but his personal life has been sad. First his father dies when he is playing in India. Then his brother dies in Pakistan against England. I feel for the guy. and to see him smiling make me

Actually, sorry for being this pedantic, but I'm certain his father died whilst the team were on tour in Australia, probably in December. He didn't take part in the VB series , and left after the Sydney test if I'm right. That tour was particularly sad for us, not only in terms of the results but also how much tragedy there was off the field for our players. Rana Naved also lost his father whilst he was on tour, just before the final of the VB series. He stayed on though, on his mom's request, and put in two fantastic performances in the best of 3 finals, which we lost 2-0 despite his and the rest of the bowling attacks best efforts.
