Question One Down Batsman?

AS in last two matches against India Shoaib Malik playes very well as a one down batsman and there is another one down batsman that is Younis Khan . Imran Khan said in a tv channel that younis khan should play at 3rd number. and Shoaib didnt perform well at lower order against England and before this he plays as 3rd number and plays well.
So What do u think shoulb be at 3rd number?

i would prefer shoaib mailk batting at 1 down in ODI's, however in Test matches you need a more structured batsman so therefore younis khan should bat at no3 in test matches.

Malik all the way have you seen his ODI form. Just awsome and he always hammers India just like Salman Butt. Malik one down in ODI cricket and Younis Khan in Test cricket.

Younis For No3

I would suggest that younis khan would make a more dominating no3 batsmen than malik. although malik has served well at this position but i strongly agree that malik does not have the right temprement, concentration and most of all malik does not have a great deal of foot work. with the england tour just round the corner i would say malik would really struggle on the english pithces.
another point out is that malik only performs well in sub continental conditions, where his performance out side the sub continent speaks for it self.
younis khan however has been in excellent form with the bat in test. he has not had the right slot in ODI to perform. he has a much better tempremant, concentration and a better foot work than shoib malik.
We need a No3 batsman who can play in any conditions and against any team, thats what you call a world class batsman!!!!!

No 3 spot should go to YK in both forms of the game. In tests he's certainly established himself at that position and in ODIs I feel that he would be far better suited at number 3 where he can build an innings rather than 6 where he has to slog (and he's not much of a slogger).

Precisely. In ODIs, we need YK's common sense approach to batting at the top of the order. He is also vital in the middle overs where his penchant for cheeky singles and excellent running should help the team. He is next to useless at 6, unless the team is 30/4 or something.

However, that leaves the question of what to do with Malik. Make him open, IMHO - he has it all as a one-day batsman so should get to face the most overs. We can be fairly certain that on days where Malik bats for 40 or so overs, Pakistan will, ceteris paribus, win the match.
