give malik and hafeez a bit of time and im sure the opening problem will be alright. Malik has just come back from injury so will take some time to get set in again. The fielding needs work and that is the biggest problem. Pakistan need to work on the grounds at home so players will be encouraged to dive. the best ground inpakistan is the multan ground with lush outfields. if more gronds were like that then pakistan fielding will improve.

Its an interesting scenario that Pakistani pace bowlers are world reknown swing masters but in a sharp contrast, our batsmen, specially the openers are the worst in playing swinging deliveries. I felt the tendency in our both openers to throw their bats to outswingers and beating pathetically to inswingers. Man !! that pathan's first over hatrick was a shock that lead a cold chill running down thru my spine, and we won the game anyway. lol

But non were willing to put there hand up an open i think they with akamal could get them off to a great start, but sadley they were too busy worrying ablout themselves and averages but also i think you field better when are full of confidence installed in when you score lots of runs or are ruling with the ball, they unable to ethier because they arent getting enough to defend because they are not getting off to a good start and they have to rebuild the innings so i think nazier looks like a good find and htey shoud stick by him

big problem for me their opening role...

test wise i would go hameed + 1 of the 2 leftys, farhat/butt, for the one dayers - either a sort of pitch hitter in malik/akmal and someone like hafeez/nazir. or both the last 2 options.

i think "pinch hitters" are not a long term soluition to opener , because they do not value th4ere wicket high enough i think they should stick with butt, someone who will value his wicket enable them to make more use of thre last 10 overs with the use of " pinch hitters", but i would like to see dhjoni open the innings for india, he has now shown he is much more muturer then a "pinch hitter£" and play a mature innings but also make use of power plays and bat through picking off part time bowlers in the middle of the innings

Once and for all Pak needs to invest PCBs coffers into a good domestic system... a simple one that works, an operational cricketing acadamy and then some of that famous grey matter to make a constitution and rules for the board and the team to function under. Once this is done we can select players on merit, the central contracts have been revoked and performence based ones will be used, this makes a lot of sense if done fairly. Last we need to select a captain not influenced by petty politics and subterfuge to focus on the task at hand, cricket!

I think it would have to be Mohammed Yousuf although Shahid Afridi expresses his interest.
