| He should not retire because he is currently in good form and isn't really that old.

| If injury is the base of retirement then Tendulkar pretty much qualifies for it as well. Let him set an example and let shoaib follow it. sounds fair enough?

| Akhtar should not retire, although I do have an odd story about his ego. But first, I think he's obviously too good to retire right now. He was amazing against England in the ODIs, he is the fastest bowler in the world today (right?), and he's experienced and he's a fantastic bowler. Anyway my story: My dad's friend was once on the board at Worcestershire when they signed Akhtar. He started amazingly taking lots of wickets for few runs. After about 6-8 matches, he complained of injury and they stopeed him playing. After about 2 months of no word from him (he was not really injured to the extent that he said he was), they let him go. That story actually meant nothing, but I thought I'd tell you it. Sorry for wasting a minute of your life

| knowing Akhtars huge ego he will not retire... if he can bowl well at 33 then good enough i say, although i think the PCB has more or less taken care of that decision for him

| It a tough question for him now. With the two year ban, there is a very high probability that his career is over. If he does not retire now, he will have a very painful two years coming up. Two years could be a very long wait to make a comeback when one is dishonored, is in good health and yet cant play cricket and still has a lesser possibility of making a successful comeback. Its going to be two years of uncertainity, insecurity, agony and frustration. At the end if his health does not allow him to make a comeback, which is quite probable, it will be very dissapionting for him. On the contrary, if he retires, life will be a lot easier for him. I guess he has earned enough money for a comfortable life. However, like Mr.Hutt pointed out, his ego might come in the way. He would probably prefer to fight the battle than give in.
