Pakistan name Mushtaq Ahmed as New assistant coach

What do you guys think of the newest change by Pakistan. I think that its the best choice because Mushi is still a great player playing the best cricket domesticaly as a pakistan for Surry. I think Mushi can still play cricket. I hope he gets a nthor chance to play one last chance prove hes not finashed. Mushtaq the new assistant coach for Pakistan in the other hand is GREAT. Because he can help Woolmer out with his experience. Playing in England he can translit words in Urdh(Pakistani Languge) in to english to help some players out. Also hes a great player overall. MUSHI is a legend in Pakistan.

Appointing a domestic assistant coach makes lots of sense when appointing an overseas head coach, but the problem with most obvious candidates is association with past setups. Mushtaq is a very clean break as he's not even been in the frame in recent years: he's unqualified and inexperienced as a coach.... but at least he's not in any way tainted.

In a perfect world the assistant coach would perhaps be a rather better model of athleticism (a Pakistani Johnty Rhodes known for his work ethic, total commitment and excellence in the field) but the real attraction of Mushtaq must be his English domestic cricket experience: he's as versed as it is possible to be in the most professional cricketing setup on the planet and can take to the role full familiarity with the latest coaching techniques.

I think it is a good move, mushi is both a good spinner and a good guy personal wise, so i think it would prove to be helpful for the whole team and woolmer in general.

Personally, nothing against Mushtaq as he is being a great player and an even better human being, but with all due respect, I am not in agreement with the decision for the following reasons.

(1) Our team's main strength is pace bowling and aggressive batting, while Mushtaq is not even close to any one of those. The only person that can benefit from Mushtaq is obviously Danish Kaneria.

(2) Unfortunately, Pakistani team has a history of rebelious attitude towards desi coaches. Perhaps there is something still persists in our minds that we listen better to white skinners than our own kind. A classical example is Wasim Akram's recent interview when he replied to a question about not coaching Pakistan's fast bowlers in a sharp contrast to continous help to Irfan Pathan. Wasim Said, the thirsty goes to water, not that the water travels to the thirsty. Never ever a Pakistani fast bowler has approached me for advice or training since I retired, while Irfan regularly stays in touch with me for advice no matter which part of the world he is playing cricket.

(3) I personally think Pakistan team needs coaching in dealing with the problem of how to perform well in presure. Make them jog an extra ten miles or make them practice an extra 100 catches a day wont really help cuz physical ability of all international players is about the same with a few minor exceptions. We must learn, specially our batting, line, not to panic in presure and I see Mushtaq being hardly of any help here.

(4) And lastly, the beat up subject of our unstable opening, how do u guys think Mushtaq or even Woolmer himself can fix it?

Musi has been sacked I know its old news but just wanted to remind everyone. Poor guy messed up at his last chance with team Pakistan. He wont ever get a chance to be part of Paksitan cricket team in any way IMO. Is it me or am I the only one that feels sorry for the great legspinner???

Well, I dont think there was any injustice done to him. He was hired and he was fired and I dont see anything wrong in it. He can goto court if he was not paid for his services or anything done to him not in accord with the job contract. There is no point in weaning cuz it simply pushes him towards losing a battle on character and moral grounds.

Do you guys think Musi will ever get a chance again to play for Pakistan team? I dont think so. I still think Mushi deserves a chance I know this guy still gots game. And can bowl the leg spin. I think we need to give Mushi chance as a player not as a COACH.Will Mushi ever play for Team Pakistan again???

I think we should use our time and energy in finding and training fresh blood rather than sticking with a player who has been good but is in the twilight zone of his career now. Something that was impressive with great players like Sarfaraz Nawaz and Imran Khan was that they found replacements for themselves in the form of Wasim and Waqar before exiting out of the game. I dont see mushtaq or many other current and former Pakistani players have that sharp eye and ability to identify a gem.
