The fun may be ruined, I guess.

ICC's recent hint to install Darrel Hair as an umpire in champion's trophy is not only a disgrace to cricket but a bad taste in the mouth as well.

Why?

At the moment he is a member of the elite panel and should certainly be involved in the competition and if Inzamam is found guilty in the hearing then Hair's actions will be vindicated however unpopular that may make him in Pakistan.

What if forensic reports show no evidence of ball tempering and Darrel is found guilty? Do you think he will arrive with a proof to make a case or will stick with demand of $500,000.00 behind the closed doors in return for his retirement? Or will he cover it by the label of "ill advice"?

We can't know what will happen until Inzamam's hearing takes place, and speculating really achieves nothing. As a point of fact, though, which is indisputable, Darrell Hair is not presently facing any charge and therefore there is nothing of which he can be found guilty, as you put it.

Well if pak drops out of the champions trophy because of Hair officiating its only gonna be their own loss. Lets see what happens in the hearing perhaps then we can comment on this new development, right now it really wont achieve anything

ICC should appoint Darryl Hair as President of ICC IMO. And Shakoor Rana should be made head of NATO.

Australia and Allem Dar have a history too
Of course we all remember the 4th Ashes test last year
http://www.abc.net.au/sport/content/200508/s1447965.htm
Yes, the one where mild mannered Kattich was fined for dissent against Dar

The usually mild mannered Lee charged for dissent against Allem Dar in January
http://www.abc.net.au/sport/content/200601/s1541343.htm

The usually mild mannered Gilchrist charged for dissent against Aleem Dar in January
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/aus...ory/234409.html

This is the second time Ponting has been charged for dissent this year. The first one earlier this year.
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/bde...ory/244619.html
Yes Aleem Dar again. "Crowe also commented on the Australian team's interactions with Dar, noting that there were a few issues the team needed to sort with the umpire"

It's not just Pakistan that is having issues with umpires but we have to get over it. It is pointless reviving this issue over and over i think.

The whole thing with Dar is not a racism thing, he is just a very poor umpire.

Uuuhhh...No he is not...Its just the Aussies who seem to have a bit of a problem with Dar..I wonder why...

Getting back to the topic under discussion. So far, the only reports we have of Hair officiating at the Champions Trophy, is from the press in Australia. Yeah right...

The ICC by mouth of Malcolm Speed described "Hair's participation in the Champions' Trophy as mere speculation."

Hair is just being himself again...

Good point - there really should be some ICC clause which prevents umpires from shouting their mouths off to the press in this manner. The job of an umpire may lose all its attraction for attention-seeking, headline-grabbing narcissists, but I am sure the PCB won't be too unhappy
