Unhappy Future Concerns!!

Irrespective of the decision of the commitee, the question now arises is whether pakistan be able to survive in international cricket without its pace men.How else has the ability to perform the job which the two were performing.
The spot light falls on SAMI and RANA but in my opinion both are well short of teh required calliber.

Ah! I m very sory to say that "SHARE PACE BOWLIN:which had been the strength of pakistan cricket for almost last three decades has gone now......................?

Sami and Rana are not very able to do the job well but we have a hope if he performs well that is Shabbir Ahmed if his action cleares then we can expect some good bowling from him.... other wise Pakistan out of World Cup next year .

The bans on Asif and Shoaib will no doubt test the depth of our reserves, and the "stand up and deliver" qualities of the current crop of bowlers either in the team right now or on the fringes of selection. This includes the likes of Mohammad Sami, Rana Naveed ul Hassan, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, Yasir Arafat and Abdur Razzaq. Roughly all these have all been playing at the international level for some time now, and whilst they are not as such yet regarded as world class bowlers (possibly for the exception of Rana who has I think is our highest ranked one-day bowler even now, when he is has been in period of quite patchy and inconsistent form, though his reputation too at the test level is not established as at the one-day level, and Abdul Razzaq who is considered useful by many though probably still not “world class”).

The time is deal for all of these to finally take the next step and themselves realize they all need to step up their performance levels higher if Pakistan are to have any realistic chance of making up for the absence of its two frontline bowlers. Particularly the more experienced of these, people like Razzaq and Rana, they need to set the example for the younger lot. And the younger lot, particularly people like Sami, who will be making a comeback into the team after a long absence, need to realize that now there performance should be a lot more then just the bare minimum to keep the next person in the pecking order waiting! And I’ll extend this for everyone in the team, not just the quicks. People like Afridi, Hafeez, Malik and Kaneria at the test level; this should be the wake up final for everyone. We’ve lost two quality opening bowlers, may be if our openers started putting up more runs on the board for the bowlers to bowl at, and our fielders dropped fewer chances, we’d be able to in some way lesson the affects of their absence. As I said, this is wake up time, time for everyone to prove they’re asset for the team, not a liability.

And over all it appears quite a reasonably stiff task on paper, but some how I still have hope because under Inzi we’ve seemed to thrive on adversity at more then occasion, I wouldn’t put it completely beyond us to do the same again this time also, although the nature of the adversity in this case is more intense than any we have encountered in the recent past. In any case, Shoaib Akhtar's absence should not be felt as much because he was injured most of the time anyway, and Pakistan has won in the past too without his services, even away from home. They key I think will be everyone’s fitness, we have limited resources as it is, and if anyone from these gets injured too, then it will really become an impossible task.

Recalling the performance of Pakistan's under19 team, I am quite sure that Pakistan has a bright future in pace bowling. However, looking the pace bowlers left after Shoaib and Asif's exit, I am bound to say that the current lot is nowhere close to what Pakisan has been famous for. Can Pakistan win with this team? Yes, Pakistan can.

The last time Pakistan's best three fast bowlers played together was in the WC. Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib. Pakistan could not even make to the second round. Winning does not come from having star players in the team. Winning comes from good team efforts. A good team effort from 11 decent players can win any match any day.

Pakistan's biggest worry right now is not the pace attack......its the attitude and the psychology of the team. After the last quarter, when Pakistan saw more controversy than any other team in the entire history of the game, the players are not very confident. That was evident in the last match when every player seemed to walk in a different direction. The batting lacked strategy and unity. It seemed as if they never discussed before coming out to bat.

Pakistan must now have 11 fully dedicated players out there and make sure that they do something noteworthy in the WC. I believe Pakistan, after all these, can still surprise many of us in the WC. For that, the first thing to do is to deal with the Afridis that refuse to play sensibly.
