I agree - More so against the Aussies. I do not believe Pakistan is playing Australia in test matches for a couple of years now. So sadly we will never be able to judge Youhana's real talent.

Still it is a highly creditable achievement and he deserves all the accolades.

Imagine bowling at these 6 players.

Muhammad Yousaf
Ricky Ponting
Inzi
Tendulkar
Pietersen
Kallis

They would demolish any attack.

I would remove Tendulkar from this list and add Lara.

Sure, with an attack of Imran Khan, Marshall, Holding, Lillee and Warne

Umm why vvvrulz? I don't think Yousaf needs any such "test"! He has already scored heavily this year against England in England, who allegedly had the best pace attack in the world. He also scored heavily against India who happen to have very good spinners. And as for Australia, the last time he went there, he scored a first-day hundred at the MCG against their first-choice attack.

So if someone has not played Australia, their "real talent" cannot be judged? Gee...that would mean Ponting, Hayden and Langer have no discernible talent, since they have never batted against Australia? At least Yousaf has scored some runs against them! And similarly, would this mean we can never appraise Viv Richards' talent since he never batted against the best bowling attack in the world then, namely his own.

In any case, this obsession with scoring against Australia is completely irrelevant. Salim Malik was one Pakistani batsman who thrashed Australia, in particular Warne, at every given opportunity - doesn't make him a better batsman than his Pakistani contemporaries. Might also be interesting to look up the record of Ijaz Ahmed against the Aussies - another guy who hammered the Aussies, but still ranks below the likes of Inzamam, Yousaf etc. Cricket, or batting, is NOT all about scoring against the Australians - unless one is Ashes-fixated I guess!

It is surprising isn't it, that this caveat is being attached to Yousuf's acheivement that he didn't face Australia and South Africa. But what about the fact that he didn't face Bagladesh or Zimbabwe either and the teams he scored against are hardly second string!! If it was that easy a feat, why is it then the closest one got before this also fell 200 runs short?

Nice try in taking away some of the glory... too bad the WI dont agree, it is their players record that he broke and Lara and co gave him a standing ovation. Lara went as far as saying he has taught us all how to stay out there in the postmatch talk!! i think thats enough for me

As for playing against Australians.. when you guys are done..wih the ashes why dont u come to pakistan and play a test series here...even after the WCup or something.. lets see how legendary your team is against us eh?

dont talk.. bring it

Some people will always try and belittle somebody elses glory, that is the way of life. For me it is a brilliant performance by MoYo but i think this record may well be broken sooner than Viv's was as the amount of cricket played makes it possible these days.

Take England for example they have 7 home tests every year and they played 3 at the start of the year and then 4 ashes tests before new year.It won't happen this time of course but the fact that England played 3 more games than MoYo did would mean it would be possible for it to be done.

For the record KP is England's leading runscorer this year, currently he has 1189 runs with 4 hundreds and has been out twice in the 90's.
