Afridi finds form just in time...

Just in time when the team needed him most. With Inzi, Yousuf and Younis out of the 4th ODI (vs Windies), Shahid Afridi turns on the batting magic...

His stats in the Patrons trophy, has been everything but impressive. With scores of 1, 24, 20, 35, and 4 it seemed like his days were numbered (for now, at least). But, like the Afridi we have all come to learn to know and love (or hate... in his case, both at the same time), is back...

In the latest match, he has scored 51 and 100. Almost like he knew he'd be needed... And his bowling figures are nothing to sneeze at either. He is currently 3rd on the bowlers list, with 22 wickets in 5 games with a best return of 5-30.

Is Razzaq's place as all-rounder in the ODI side in danger? Don't think so. And certainly not for tomorrow's game, as he most likely will be captaining the side in the absence of the 3 elder statesmen...

Razzaq's place in the side in danger! Surely you're kidding Wanderer. His place in the side can only be in danger in the virtually impossible situation of the captain losing faith in the elder statesmen Razzaq is, or in even the bigger unlikelihood of the coach forgetting his fascination for cricketers who can do a bit of this and bit of that. With the friendship Razzaq has with the present team management, him being dropped is something Pakistan cricket fans can only dream of happening...

I wonder if our management ever took the painstakingly tough task of taking a suggestion from Afridi as to what number he wants to bat on? Or analyzing his batting technique to decide what spot he better fits in? It seems like Afridi's talent was viscously wasted by putting him up on the opening spot for years in a mere fantasy of experiencing dashing hits over the top in the first 15 overs(now a days, the first power play)to cover up our fragile opening problem. Or does it really matter what number Afridi bats on?

The match is underway and Afridi already been cleaned up. Now thats what u call sheer stupidity by our management. You have two set opening batsmen (Farhat and Hafeez) out there, Y break the developing and promising start and introduce Afridi in the opening instead? beats my intellegence !!
