Pakistan Domestic

There has always been this view that pakistan players are from Karachi and Lahore. Its turing around now though, both Lahore teams are now in the silver league and Karachi teams in the Gold. but it is Sialkot that has really surprised me, they have been competative now for a while. I hope that in the next two/three years that Quetta/Hydrabad/Lahore(Ravi and Shalimar) and some other 'minnows' start getting competative.

The PCB has announced that they will now allow regional teams to sign 1 overseas player each. These players will all come from the SC. (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh)

And a proposal was made that instead of dropping the departments, they will form part of ONE expanded championship next season.

Through the new central contract system, national players MUST turn out for their domesic sides too.

Hopefully all of these proposed changes will be to the betterment of Pakistan's domestic cricket.

Well the simple fact that most of the talent in Pakistan never gets a chance to play for any worthwhile side may put a spanner in the great works.

I am actually much more interested to see a 12th region created and having the departments sponsor the regions, allowing the regions to have some cash that they can spend on development. This way the department is affiliated with cricket and gets its name out there and the domestic team have a regional affiliation and a following, i mean i dont want to support a team called Habib Ltd. if my bank is ALfallah. THis way domestic players could also be paid better and focus on cricket year round.
