Pacier Pakistani Pitches Proposed

Seems like the Pakistan Cricket Board has had enough of the problems facing their batsmen when they play in South Africa and Australia.

The PCB's chief operating officer, Shafqat Hussain told The News that by September/October of this year, they plan to have about 90 bouncy pitches around Pakistan.

Just thinking back to Pakistan's last 2 tours (England and South Africa), and how their batsmen struggled, I think this is a step in the right direction.

I think its a great move! It will help develop the younger batters and it will help the quality bats like Younis and Yusuf. It will also encourage their quicks. IMO Pakistan should have done this a while ago instead of preparing dead pitches at home for the sole purpose of preventing them from losing.

I will believe it when it happens. wanted it for a long time. This will help us overseas most. again, I'll believe it when it happens. First though they need to tell the world of this new board structure and what it is. every board has a structure exept ours. I hate to complain but with pakistan when it happens thats when you believe it.

If this actually happens, it will good not only for Pakistan cricket, but a step in the right direction for cricket in general.

Bouncy pitches is not a bad idea at all; however, its Pakistani batsmen's inability to play swing bowling in a sharp contrast to Pakistani bowlers who are considered swing masters. Pakistani board should provide training that improves the batting technique of dealing with swing. We stand at a point where soon as the ball starts moving in air or off the pitch, the pants start getting wet.

If the Pakistani board introduce pitches that seam/swing in domestic cricket the batsmen will get used to playing the swinging ball and will get better. Mind you Younis and Yusuf dont have too many problems playing the moving ball. Younis Khan's scoring plenty of runs at Headingly.

Seems like the PCB is really serious about it this time too. http://content-rsa.cricinfo.com/paki...ry/298207.html Interesting this comment:

The PCB is preparing to spend some 80 million rupees (1.3 million USD) on the re-laying of pitches.
