Inzamam

Serious point here, where does he fit in now?

We all know he has retired from one day matches but would bringing him back to the test side upset the team spirit that has been built up over the last few weeks, the same would apply to Shoaib Ahktar i guess too as he is an enigma and might not fit into the new Malik/Lawson regime.

What do you guys think?

I don't think PCB was ever going to select Inzi. They have been hinting at that for a while, and then refused to offer him a central contract, which sort of confirmed it.

Sad end to a great player's career.

Sadder end than that Marenello! He had the chance to really go out in a blaze of glory but it appears that he has replicated Viv Richards' exit (albeit from the first innings for Viv) at the Oval and rushed off down the ground like a youngster.

As I said to you last week, I am pleased that he has fallen shy of Javed's record though. Miandad must remain as Pakistan's best ever batsman.

Aah well. Sad indeed, and a touch moving to see his last innings and then the presentations at the end. The stunned silence at his dismissal in a large crowd was worth watching alone. I think he ended his career like he started it; a carefree youngster, looking to dominate the bowling.

I agree. I don't think there is any doubt that Miandad's Pakistan's best ever batsman; what the likes of Javed and Border achieved in the 80s, is worth more than the inflated averages of many a player from the current era, the Martyns, Flowers, Sangakarras et al.
