OK.. so Pollock got 20% of his dismissals LBW and just 22% caught behind... and Donald only got 12% of his LBW but 30% caught behind: predictable, I think!

Edited from cricinfo:

Good session for South Africa, 30 overs, 2 wickets and only 52 runs given away

Match State: Lunch - Day 1

End of over 30 (1 run) New Zealand 52/2
N Boje 1-0-1-0 - Scoreboard End
MS Sinclair 8* (54b) SP Fleming 20* (47b 3x4)

A good over rate for South Africa, very unusual, getting 30 overs in the first session

Three sessions played... and having put New Zealand in South Africa are presumably counting themselves ahead 2 sessions to 1... with the loss of Kallis to a side strain knocking them a bit.... but a wicket off the last ball of the day giving them a lift.

It seems the fortunes that saw 23/2 and 97/4 did not continue. NZ were 141/4 at tea... then powered on to 248 with only Sinclair falling.

At 248/5 the honours would presumably have been even... but things ended as follows:

89.5 Pollock to McCullum, OUT: second last ball of the day, playing from
the crease, comes back slightly, hits the front pad fairly low,
they all go up, nod of the head from de Silva and not much wrong
with that

New Zealand 248/6, Partnership of 85
BB McCullum lbw b Pollock 55 (120b 6x4 0x6)
CL Cairns 60* (72b 9x4 1x6) SM Pollock 22.5-1-62-1 (4nb)
