Well sometimes you just have to retire and at the end of this series wouldn't be a bad thing. The team will just have to cope. Pollock is no longer the future of SA cricket it obvious he is in decline.

I'm rather surprised knowing that, is that something that is just your personal opinion, or is there speculation, from other fans and the media on that too? I certainly didn't expect him to be contemplating retirment at 32 (since no one answered that bit of my question I had to find his age my self!) And especially not when he is on the verge of some very signficant career milestones including 100 tests (currenlty played 91) and 400 wickets (currently at 371 scapls)...I still think he is really affective bowler. If Glenn McGrath is still play at 35(correct me if I'm wrong) than I would suspect Pollock would like to play on him self for a bit longer as well. Last edited by Zainub : 18-01-2005 at 09:42 PM.

32??? id say he has atleast 3 years in him! i think he should stick to both forms of the game at such a *young* age! atleast drop the ODI game is anything. he is still a class test bowler. I am sure most teams would love to take pollock in their side. even aussys (maybe)... for kaspa? anyway he has a WEALTH of invaluble experience and because you guys are trying the new kids (steyn, langerveldt etc etc.) im sure pollock will be able to pass on many hints and tips and steer them in the right direction for sure! I know many pakistan fans are yearning for wasim or waqar to have stayed on a bit longer so they could help steer their young un's in the right direction

Its not Pollock age thats important its that commentators have noticed a decline in his bowling. To extend his one day career bearing in mind the world cup is in 2007 in my opinion he should give up Tests so SA have him in fairly fit form for that. Rather than bowling himself into the ground with Test matches.

i myself would also prefer players to keep playing tests.... but you put it into a good perspective John.... and this will give more chance for the youngsters and help your test team move forward
