Kemp: The Next Klusener?

Justin Kemp's massive hitting has earned him that tag. His bowling has been less impressive of late??

Does Smith need to bowl him more or is he just a massive hitter??

Its a bit too early too say yet. I would like to see him bat with about 30 overs left on a dodgy pitch against good bowlers and then we will see how good he is because so far he has been coming into bat in the last 10-15 overs on flat pitches against inexperienced bowlers and making hay.

I think Goughy had him worked out towards the end of the SA-Eng ODI series with the short ball so it will be interesting to see how he copes with this.

Chuck is probably right. Too early to call at this stage. Put him against Aus, and perhaps then we can determine how good he really is, he has the talent, only a matter of if he can apply it consistently in a variety of situations.

Hopefully, Kemp will get to face Streak in the 3 match so we'll see how he goes.

Zulu is still playing for the Dolphins, his domestic stats have been very impressive so people here are asking why he isn't playing for S A. As for Kemp, he has a far way to go to be Zulu's equal, but he has the talent and the big hits so we'll see how he shapes up when he plays the better teams. Hopefully he will live up to all the hype about him. So glad Streak is back for Zim.

I'd love to see Zulu back. The scare Windies fans must've got in the opening match of WC'03 when Zulu almost belted RSA to a win was huge.

Surprised to see his ODI averages are so impressive. 41 with the bat and 29 with the ball. Deserves a shot.

There is this beliefe that he and Smith don't get along that well. I know they've all cleared it up for the record and come out and said it in the press that there's nothing between them now, but who knows if that's really the case. No one can really tell for sure what's happening inside their hearts and minds...

The next Klusener? No. He's more likely to out of the team within the next 12-18 months. Klusener has been one of the top one-day players over the last ten years (one of the only 4-5 players to average over 40 with the bat at a strike rate in excess of 80 in the history of LOIs as well as his bowling), Kemp is nothing short of a slogger, likely to fail many more times than he suceeds.
