I've long argued that the Aussies can only get away with packing their team with attacking batsmen (Hayden, Ponting, Clarke, Gilchrist) because the opposition isn't that good: that's being vindicated now - the dire need for Langer, martyn and katich has rarely been so evident! |
Yes, but if you don't get the wickets Australia will post 600 runs in a day and a half, which will always play on the opposition batsmen, even more so if they lose an early wicket. And the way the Aussies declare they normally leave a 15-20 over period to try and balst a couple of wickets out.
By the way, how are you being vindicated. Australia has only lost one test series this decade - against India in India. They have always had a combination of agressive and classical batsmen in the side. Thats why Australia are able to climb out of a hole if in trouble, or if they have wickets try and pile the runs on quickly. System still working and no problems with that part of Australia's play.
