Clearly his action goes well beyond the 15% tolerance* Looks like he will either have to remedy it, or not bowl. I think this means he will still be able to play as a specialist bat though.

*This is what makes Murali special, he has proven consitsenty that he is well under the 15%, and was even under the 5% rule when that was enforced. Only his Doorsa bent more than that limit, and now with the 15% rule, it is fine.

what now !!!!

South Africa are going to battle to find a spinner now as there are no young spinners left in South Africa that anyone rates ! I'll bet on Smith been the spinner in the upcoming ODI's in South Africa !!! Boje is a option but his had his chance over and over and done nothing with it !

SA finally find a bowler who looks like he could do a solid job and he's bowling illegally. Could SA ever get a really good spin bowler?

Graeme Smith does bowl pretty well and I don't see why SA can't use him as the spinner for the time being, either wait for Botha to have his action sorted out or for another good spin bowler to come to front.

I see smith as a makeshift spinner for the ODI's only. I've got to say that as a test spinner I can't see him as a test spinner that can hold down a end and take wickets. Let's see what happens !!!!!! ! as it stands there are no and I mean no other spinners out there , apart from boje and botha that take wickets for SA.

I'd love to see Adams come back and bowl again, just for that action.

It's a shame to see Botha banned, but I rate Boje as a steady spinner and a handy bat.

Maybe Smith should just be used as a brief interlude while the bowlers take a rest or to fill the gap before the new ball. There are days though where even part-timers can be dangerous and he's not shoddy and he gets the ball spin a bit. Botha did look to be able to take wickets as he is more aggressive, Boje for me never looked like he was going to take a wicket, his capabilities with the bat are pretty good but SA are to play a spinner solely as a spinner then they want someone who can take wickets.

I can think of one spinner who can play for South Africa and that is Robin Peterson. The Proteas dont have any other spinner worth mentioning, at the moment.

Robin has been comming up as the 5th or 6th bowler in his provicial games so ( do south Africa really need another " sort of try and spin it bowler now " )
