please refrain from comparing pieterson with ponting

as far as pieterson and the "never look like going out" comment. i've watched and disagree but as that's clearly just my opinion and insufficient the commentary research on his innings back me up - there are so many opportunities albeit, they're mainly healthy half chances but ... "never going out" ... doesn't seem right.

No, the quota system is not perfect, but it was necessary...I myself have been a victim of it, so what do you do? You move on...

KP moved on. Lots of Safricans would have been perfectly fine with it (although smarting everytime he scores big against them), if not for his big mouth. Pietersen keeps humming the same tune. And its really wearing thin by now.

BTW...Our football (soccer) team also has a quota system...Now, x amount of WHITE players have to be in the team. Makes you think, doesn't it...

any predictions on KP's ashes ave. - i'll go out on a limb and say - below 30.
Ok Pietersen is one of the best talents in world cricket, i feel he is probobly the best BIG game/series player. My prediction for Pietersens ashes average is 56.

I do understand that most england fans love peterson for the great innings he played in the ashes, however if taken on merit peterson as a batsman seems to implode when he is set i.e has his eye in, attitude wise he is great for the team and is a very good fielder as well, but he is certainly not a very reliable batsmen right now, so i think calling him great is a tad over reaching. On his day shahid afridi can blast any attack out of the park, a small display of which we saw in the 20/20 game against england, he can be brilliant but noone refers to him as great because he does not do that most of the time. Now andrew strauss is great, flintoff is great, hoggard is great too, because they contribute 90% of the time, not peterson.

As for his constant talk about quotas in S.A... Pietersen said it forced him to move to england. But why should he complain when it led to a successful international career?

but ultimately i guess my "bone" is with the word great - i think it should be reserved for outstanding play over years of service; ponting, dravid, kallis... - you know!

of the above: strauss is, above all the english team imo, heading in that direction. not sure about flintoff and i like hoggard very very much but i woud not call him great.

I'd agree Hoggy shouldn't really be called great , but i feel Flintoff maybe could come into that categorie, all will be seen in the ashes though.

well after the ashes i think we will all agree that flintoff is a great player as well as hoggard, australia will win the ashes back but these two players will put up a heck of a lot of fight IMO
