A BIT of a nutter? Heh heh...thats an under-statement! He's put on a bit of weight too, hasn't he. Looked decidedly awkward the other night against the Zimbabweans.

Hall is a hard worker, with some steely determination. Same can be said about VD Wath too.

SA will need some players with nerve of steel, or else... I would like to see how they go at the CT. And then I want to see how they perform against India and Pakistan at the end of the year...

And then maybe I'll change my mind on their chances...

You a season-ticket holder at Newlands?

nah unfortunately not...u?... go to the boxes quite a bit though...a buddy of mine gets tickets to their company box so it's a sweet deal! free entry, free chow & free beer! Hooray for free stuff!

Wotcha think of Gibbs recent lack of form? I'm a bit worried that he's getting bowled so much especially in the test arena. Seems he doesn't know where his off stump is and that, for an opening bat, is a cardinal sin.

Noooo...Age has caught up on me and I have moved to the quiter side of the Cape. Have been in the Garden Route for a couple of years now...Now I have to watch the "okes at the oaks" on tele! St George's is nearer, so I have plans to go and watch either and Indian or Pakistani test there...depending.

Man! That free deal sounds sweet...

Listen, the less I say about Gibbs, the better. The man drives me up a wall! He is so immensely talented, yet he frustrates you NO-END.

Okay, I don't expect a 175 every time he goes out to bat, but a little more consistency will help. I am sure he does not go out there and throws away his wicket ON PURPOSE. But man, the way he bats, it sometimes feels that way.

He's the Peter Pan of SA cricket...won't grow up. Never.

Nice to see he's going to play a game for the Cobras before going to the CT in India. I dunno why I say "nice". Maybe I'm hoping for a miracle...

Wink

aaaahhh...the garden route...nice place...got a buddy up there near Hartenbos working on a Nature Reserve...beautiful place.

Have always been a huge Gibbs fan. To bad about the crap he has caught on in his career. I see he's getting married soon. Hopefully that will get his head right so he can knuckle down & start producing the sort of things we know he's capable of.

If there's one thing that bothers me is Smith being a bit hot headed. Seems he leads with his heart rather than his head. Nothing wrong with that just as look as he can keep his wits about him but that unfortunately is not the case.
I always get the impression his antics affect the team especially Nel the Nutcase

Gibbs and Tenielle have been living together for some time, so what's gonna change? A piece of paper? Naa...its not the document, its the attitude, and Gibbs' is not going to change imo.

Yes, Smiffy is does tend to get a bit hot under the collar, doesn't he? Like Ponting of Aus! And another problem with leading with your heart, is your emotions tend to cloud your judgement somewhat. There is a way around that, of course. Accept help from less emotional, more experienced beings around you..Like Kallis, Boucher...

And when Kepler Wessels offered to help last year before the Aussies tour? He declined the offer.

Yes, there is a fine line between arrogance and confidence. In my opinion he just crosses that line way too often.

Titans vs Cobras - 29/9/2006

First game of the season starts in just over an hour. Titans (Northern province) take on the Cobras (Cape).

Some of the names to watch: Titans - AB de Villiers, Gerald Dros, Justin Kemp, Heino Kuhn (keeper), Andre Nel, Dale Steyn, Alfonso Thomas.

Cobras - Paul Adams, Adam Bacher, JP Duminy, Con de Lange (spin), Herchelle Gibbs, Ashwell Prince, Thami Tsolekile, Mondi Zondeki.

Interestingly, they don't have little Dominic Telo in the squad...

Yep true to form the Eagles & the Titans won the weekend. The scary bit is that Cobras put up a decent score but the Titans got it with 7 overs to spare?

Weren't you also a little upset at the way the cobras folded in the middle of their innings? Pathetic. Imagine if Gibbs had not been there...Hopefully we'll see Bacher back to form sooner rather than later.

What did you think of that young Italian? Pepler Sandri...Last minute call-up, and he did not dissapoint. Bowled 8 overs on the trot, and consistently at the 135km/h mark. Although some says he should be a quicker than that (around the 140 mark), but I think he's young...and new. Good built, nice smooth action. But he does fall away a little bit.

Got a bit of attitude, but then again, most quicks do.. The titans got off to a GREAT start...If you can bat at 10 per over for the first 7or 8 then I suppose the rest should be a doddle.

As far as the Eagles...Yes, they are diamond dust for sure! Good batting from little Jakes, considering he's only seen as a "test" player by the SA selectors. Mpitsang and Van Der Wath bowled well too. I wonder why Mpitsang did not take the new ball though.. Oh, and Friedel de Wet was impressive too.

Can't wait for Wednesdays game. Warriors against the Dolphins. Would love to see the Dolphins perform better at the limited overs games this season.

Dolphins got washed away (as per usual) as the rains came down and decided to stay...

Lets hope they have clear skies tomorrow for their match against the Eagles...Should be a good one.

Titans

Hi guys.

Titans will swoop at least 1 trophy this season, reasons:
I believe that the Titans probably have the most under rated bastmen in South Africa. Gerald Dros, Johann Myburg, Goolam Bodi, Pierre de Bruyn, Maartin van Jaarsveld...... Even Dale Steyn and Alfonso Thomas can bat.

Hell, they beat the Proteas just 2 weeks ago!!
But its always been like that - Mike Rindell started his ODI career quite late for SAF.
And Roy Pienaar - class Personified.

It's probably cause I am a Titans supporter.
