Devillers for Boucher and What about Smith?

I think it is now time for Devillers to replace Boucher as wicketkeeper in ODI.
The reason it will strengthen the batting. I think Deviller's can bat number 5 and Boucher can't.
I am not saying this will make a massive difference but it might well bring some improvement. At the moment our one day side looks worst than our Test side, and our Test side isn't very good.

Is time to replace Smith as capitain? I suppose the answer is who with. I think we should at least give him until the end of World cup and than it might be in his own interests to replace him if results are bad.

i agree

yeah i think it is about time Smith got replaced as captain frankly bcoz i dont think he is doin a good job....the test side is terrible and i fink dat his replacement should be either Kallis, Dippennaar or even Jacques Rudolph(he does look like the captain type) and i'm sure it would give him more confidence with his batting. Smith aint consistent on the Test side of things but he doesnt really unleash the beast on the one-day side either......

as for AB Devilliers replacing boucher....i'm not really sure bout that!!!!my main reason is coz Boucher has saved our asses on many occasions and he's consistant with his batting! he's worh keeping......however i do think AB is a rising star and will do great things 4 the country....just after the world cup coz i think we'll need Boucher in march!!!!

Welcome to the board Leeroy, as John says if SA get rid of Smith as captain, who replaces him?.

I am not that keen on blaming captains, it's the players that get out, or don't get wickets, not saying you are wrong - but like John says it's best to wait until after the World Cup.

Absolutely. He's not elegent... but he is a great man for a scrap. DeVilliers is an excellent understudy... but it's a sad reflection on the rest of the SA batting that he looks credible as a top 6 bat: Smith and Kallis aside... it's just not that reassuring.

I do wish one of the coaching staff could help Rudolph to live up to his promise: he threatens so much...

Last week Haroon Lorgat confirmed that: "from now on Smith and De Villiers will open the batting for SA in ODI's"...

Boucher is still the keeper.

dropping boucher, giving the gloves to de villiers would open up a space for rudolph, who is a deserving candidate.???

personally i don't like it - i really like boucher - he seems one of the few genuine fighters. but his average doesn't really compare with de villiers.

actually - i should've read the thread first - seems the case is closed

Only for the ODI's. Protea openers are in AFWUL form (if you can call it "form").

There are already people calling for AB to open in tests as well. If SA selectors do not make changes for the second test, they are in AFWUL denial...
