| SA Squad for India Test series http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/rsavi...ry/271581.html Paul Adams has been recalled into the squad after two years out, while Boeta Dippenaar has been left out. Now is it just me, or is recalling Adams a little bit like England and Giles? Surely picking Thandi Tshabalala to partner Nicky Boje would have been the wiser long-term option IMO. The only reason for this selection in my eyes is Adams' record against the Indians and the desire not to rush Tshabalala, but picking him might have given him a little experience of the International arena.

| Paul Adams has been a bit of a "tameletjie" (sticky toffee) for the SA selectors. Certain corners wanted him to be selected, but he hasn't even been able to get a game for the Cobras! The past 3 seasons, he does has not even featured in the averages (top 20 bowlers in the country) Boje had an injury earlier in the season, and did not play the last round of limited overs games. He has played 2 first class game since, taken 13 wickets at an average of 18.76. But, although his stats are the best amongst the spinners, unfortunately, his days as first choice spinner may well be counted. Next best stats are from Claude Henderson and Con de Lange. As far as Thandi is concerned. Well, his stats so far this season are dismal, to say the least: 3 matches, 37 overs, 123 runs. 1 wicket, average 123.00, Strike rate 222 Indians would have loved to bat against that, I suppose. But, they are already taking a liking to Adams in this current warm-up match... |
