i dearly hope de villiers can maintain his form - he's beginning, again, to look like the guy i thought would go a long way. I'd also like to see a spinner used - these are the preperations for the WC after all!

otherwise things are looking pretty good for SA right now.

I thought we had the best of conditions in the last one dayer so don't read too much into it. We have done quiet well the last few months and should be hopeful about the World Cup.
The plus points is Pollock is doing well again and Devillers is doing well.
I don't think Prince should go to the World Cup.

i've been thinking the same about prince and the W.C. - especially as kallis is there to perform the role of rock and obviously he offers so much more.

that said - apart from kallis, the rest of the bats seem to rely too heavily on form - so who, if not prince!?

Talking

Hi, Been reading this forum for a few months, before becoming a member.

I would just like to share my thoughts. I agree that South Africa will definately use Prince in the WC to stabilise the innings. Its however a pity that Bosman was not given more of run in this current series, we know he definately can knock those balls, but we still don't really know what he is about at a international level which makes me doubt that he will get many games in the WC, unless through injury (touch wood).

Hall and Langeveldt are looking too good too drop. And are providing good support for Ntini and Polly. They also look to be solving our bowling at the death problem well. I like them over Nel cause they both have nice variation. Hall is a fighting player who's tough and does not like to lose, he is a good fielder and handy having him batting at number 7. Langeveldt is looking better and better, a lot of variation, and you don't see many SA bowlers who can provide swing like he does.

I'm thinking that Harris, was not selected, because he may save runs in an innings, but he is a very poor fielder and batsmen. Therefore for the runs saved, runs would be sacrificed through fielding and runs with the bat.
Having said that I have my tickets for the last ODI at Wanderers to see the boys off b4 the world cup...could be exciting last ODI there was quite exceptional if i remember correclty

Excellent news: I was seriously impressed with Langveldt last time England toured SA... and would be delighted to see him thrive.

Welcome.
Hall should go but there are problems. His bowling is not of great quality although occasionaly he does bowl some good spells. His bowling can be suspect and with an ageing Kallis bowling makes SA attack vunerable to an onslaught.
His batting is not going to win us games.
So whether he plays is debatable.

i get the distinct feelig that the selectors think that the team playing today is the best one! i also see problems with hall (though i can see why he has his supporters) and i would have loved to see M Morkel be given a go in his stead but having said that - hall is playing very well as is SA and "if it ain't broke...."

in fact, in general, the saffers are really hitting form at the right time - wonder if they can take it to the WIndies?
