Boeta Dippenaar retires

Another international player steps down. Its easy to be cynical and wonder if he'll be going Kolpak, but without an international recall in the horizon, I guess its not too surprising.

It makes me sick the amount of players that are coming over to England on this ridiculous Kolpak rule,it is going to cause massive problems to both the England and South African national sides in years to come as the South Africans coming over will stop the supply of young English players coming through.

It would appear that players think more of money than the prestige of representing their country these days.

What's even worse than an older experienced Kolpak coming over is a young one. Lancs have brought over a 23 year old Aren't there any other young players in England they could have chosen?

Don't blame Dippenaar in the slightest. Whilst he was some way short of international class his treatment at the hands of the South African selectors throughout the course of his career was pretty despicable and after the final insult of being left out of the world cup squad along with the continued (political) perseverance with the considerably less talented Amla he wasn't left with much option at this stage of his career.

And as for the usual kolpak hysteria from England fans. Until the ECB wake up and realise that their simply isn't enough resources (playing and financial) to support 18 counties it's simply not going to change and to get worked up over another crap young English batsmen losing his place to yet another higher quality South African mercenary seems a slightly pointless exercise to me.

Could that be why Warks have gone down to the 2nd Division with all the foreigners in the side.

I disagree here. What is with you English people always thinking you know about our political situation. Have you SEEN this or is it just the garbage you read on sky. While Amla may not be the greatest player I find your comments about him quite demeaning as Dippenaar has had enough chances and has failed to make the cut. Perhaps you should go and look up Dippenaar's test record and you will change your mind. Dippenaar being dropped for the world cup has absolutely nothing to do with Amla as he did not even make the world cup squad. We have far better players than Dippenaar and he just was not good enough period. The mere fact that ordinary players like Dippenaar, Rudolph and Kemp (all "white" players) got long runs in the national team just proves that no preference is given to players of colour. I understand that there your newspapers publish anything race related with regards to SA because it sells but dont always believe what you read.

Also, is it not strange that considering the "fact" that we pick teams on colour, that we have been the most consistent team other than Australia over the last 10 years. Imagine if we picked teams on merit
